UK STEPS UP NO DEAL BREXIT PREPARATIONS

The government's been stepping up contingency preparations in case a deal can't be reached with the European Union on trading arrangements as Britain leaves the bloc.

It's publishing new guidance on what will happen over issues like passports, driving licenses, and mobile phone roaming charges in the event of 'no deal'.

Brexiteer MP Owen Paterson says he doesn't think any mobile firms will re-introduce roaming charges in the EU after Brexit.

US EAST COAST BRACES FOR FLORENCE

Hurricane Florence could still spell 'disaster' despite being downgraded to a category two storm, according to US officials.

Its winds have weakened to around 175 km an hour, but the slow speed at which it's moving is raising fears of major flooding.

Florence may now make landfall further south than expected - the states of North and South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Washington DC and Georgia have all declared emergencies.

Jeff Bayard of the Federal Emergency Management Agency says people shouldn't take any chances.
