Family: McCain to stop receiving treatment for brain cancer

The family of US Senator John McCain, who was the Republican Party's Presidential candidate ten years ago, say that he has stopped receiving treatment for brain cancer.


Senator McCain has been battling the disease since it was diagnosed last summer.

Trump blasts social media companies, accuses them of censorship

Hundreds of tourists removed from Egypt hotel after UK couple die

The British tour operator Thomas Cooke has removed more than three hundred of its customers from a hotel resort in Egypt after the deaths of a British couple. 

However the company says there is no evidence that they died from carbon monoxide poisoning as had been reported as a possible cause.

WhatsApp tells Indian government it won't change privacy protections

Days after the Indian government said that WhatsApp has promised to develop tools to combat the spread of misinformation, the company says it is not possible to trace the source of fake messages in the country.

India had called on the messaging giant to clamp down on fake news.

Hoax messages on subjects ranging from child kidnappers, natural disasters and cow smuggling, have led to over 20 mob killings in India in the last two months.

Morrison the new Australian Prime Minister - backgrounder

Australia has a new Prime Minister, and it isn't the man who earlier this week challenged him for the role, former Home Affairs Minister Peter Dutton.
Friday's Leadership ballot was split three ways with Foreign Minister and Deputy leader Julie Bishop, Treasurer Scott Morrison and Mr Dutton.
Ms Bishop was eliminated from the ballot first, with Mr Morrison elected leader and therefore Prime Minister 45 votes to 40.

Sessions appears to hit back at Trump criticism

US Attorney General Jeff Sessions is issuing a strong defense of his leadership in the wake of criticism from President Trump.

Sessions says the Justice Department will not be "improperly influenced by political considerations."

His statement comes after Trump told Fox News that Sessions "never took control" of the agency.

Man stabs mother and sister in Paris suburb

Ugandan MP Bobi Wine Rearrested after Military Court Drops Charges

Intro

Uganda's Military Court has withdrawn all charges against legislator and musician Robert Kyagulanyi also known as Bobi Wine but rearrested him and handed him over to a civil court.

Bobi Wine was arrested during a by-election in the North Western town of Arua about a week ago after his supporters allegedly stoned President Yoweri Museveni's motorcade.

He was charged with illegal possession of a fire arm and ammunition.
