US reimposes sanctions on Iran


The US is imposing new sanctions on Iran, banning - among other things - carpet and caviar imports into the United States.

The US is also banning Iranians from purchasing dollar bills, American gold and precious metals.

North Korea has urged the US to drop sanctions just days after a confidential UN report concluded Pyongyang had not halted its nuclear missile programme.

President Trump and Kim Jong-un pledged to work towards the "denuclearisation of the Korean peninsula" at a summit in June, but have struggled to implement that agreement.

South Sudan Deal

Queensland drought additional relief announced

91 DEAD AFTER LOMBOK QUAKE


At least 91 people are now known to have died in an earthquake which hit the island of Lombok in Indonesia.

Hundreds of foreign tourists are being evacuated from nearby islands, thousands of buildings have been damaged.

The quake struck on Sunday with a magnitude of 6.9.

It comes just a week after another earthquake on Lombok which killed at least 16 people.

This man was having dinner in a restaurant in Lombok when the quake struck.
