Facebook deletes US election interference accounts

Facebook says it has found and deleted several dozen accounts aimed at
disrupting America's midterm elections.

The company is now working with the FBI to identify who set up the accounts.

UN calls for release of Saudi government critics

The United Nations is urging Saudi Arabia to release more than a dozen
political activists including women who protested against a ban on
female drivers.

The UN human rights office is concerned that the whereabouts of some
of the 15 campaigners is unknown.

Census puts citizenship in doubt in India's Assam state


In India's northeastern state of Assam, the Indian government has released the result of a census that entailed 32 million citizens submitting proof that they are Indian citizens.  

The census started three years ago and 90% of the states citizens have been given a clean chit. However there's now a doubt about the citizenship of 4 million people.

UK lawmakers accused British aid sector of complacency over sexual abuse scandal


A report from a group of British lawmakers has accused the UK aid sector of being almost complicit over the sex abuse scandal that emerged earlier this year. 


The International Development Committee has accused charities of "complacency verging on complicity" over the revelations that staff working for charities in disaster zones had sex with local people.    From London, Catherine Drew reports.

US Officials Believe North Korea is Building New Missiles

North Korea could be developing more missiles according to media reports 

Satellite imagery appears to show renewed activity at a factory that has previously produced intercontinental ballistic missiles.

It follows contradictory comments by US Donald Trump over whether North Korea still poses a nuclear threat.

Pres. Trump threatens to shutdown U.S. government


President Trump says he has no problem triggering a government shutdown if congress fails to back his immigration policies

Speaking alongside the Italian Prime Minister, Trump repeated his threat to close the federal government unless funding for his border wall is approved by US lawmakers

Government funding runs out at the end of September.

Trump's position, which has been criticized by members of his own party, hasn't come as a surprise.

Last March the U.S. President reluctantly signed a trillion-dollar spending bill which didn't
include money for border security, and at the time Trump said he'd never sign onto another bill of it's kind.

Viral video of student being assaulted sparks fresh debate about sexual harassment in France
