China 'shocked' at latest US tariffs

China says it's "shocked" about fresh tariffs proposed by the US as a trade war between the two countries escalates.

On Tuesday, the Trump administation announced plans for a ten percent tariff on a further $200bn of Chinese goods.

Angela Merkel fires back at Donald Trump at tense NATO summit

Angela Merkel has fired back at Donald Trump's claims Germany is « captive to Russia, » saying she remembered what that was like from growing up in the GDR. 

His remarks came as he arrived at the NATO summit in Brussels, where leaders are braced for a clash with the US President.

U.S President Donald Trump is heavily criticising Germany as he enters the summit of NATO leaders in Brussels.

It's the first moment in what could be a very tense summit between the American leader and their NATO allies.

U.S. President Donald Trump reasserted his displeasure that Germany is setting up a gas pipeline with Russia while America supports Europe in defence over concerns about Moscow's activities.

Last year only 6 NATO countries spent the pledged 2 percent of their GDP on defence - another major complaint for the US president.

Life sentence in German neo-Nazi trial

A German woman has received a life sentence for her involvement in a neo-Nazi gang which committed ten murders over seven years, mostly against foreigners.

The trial went on for more than five years and raised questions about whether authorities had done enough to stop the killings.

WhatsApp launches public safety ad campaign in India

Days after the Indian government pulled up WhatsApp and asked it to take urgent steps to prevent the spread of misinformation, the instant messaging service has launched full page advertisements in leading Indian newspapers.

Over the last three months, twenty-nine people have been lynched by mobs across eight Indian states. These people were killed after locals mistook them to be child abductors- following viral messages circulated on WhatsApp warning of child kidnapping gangs being active in those areas.

Trade War Escalates Between Washington and Beijing

The trade war between the United States and China has escalated, with the Trump administration imposing ten percent tariffs on another 200 billion dollars worth of Chinese imports.

There have now been several rounds of tariffs between Washington and Beijing, with Trump accusing China of unfairly taking US technology.

Judge grants more time for US gov’t to reunite kids with parents

A San Diego judge has granted the federal government additional time to reunite migrant children who they separated from their parents, saying some cases pose logistical challenges. 


Over two-thousand minors have been removed from their parents' custody at the US-Mexico border, as part of Trump's zero tolerance immigration policy — a policy he defended at the White House on Tuesday, saying that illegal immigrants simply ought to stay out of the US.

Ethiopia pushes new relations with Eritrea

Ethiopian Airlines has announced that it will resume flights to Eritrea in a week, for the first time in 20 years.

UN accuses South Sudan of "war crime" atrocities

Theresa May's re-shuffled cabinet is meeting (Tuesday) as she tries to stabilise Britain's government amid a crisis over Brexit.

Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson and Brexit Secretary David Davis both resigned in under 24 hours over concerns about her Brexit strategy.

They've been replaced by Jeremy Hunt and Dominic Raab respectively.
