REPORT: Trump’s lawyer received payment to arrange talks with Ukrainian president

A Ukrainian intelligence officer says that Donald Trump's personal lawyer received a secret payment of $400,000 to arrange talks with the Ukrainian president, Petro Poroshenko.

The BBC broke the story, saying there's no evidence to suggest that Trump was aware of the payment.

Trump expected to sign into law bipartisan bill on Dodd-Frank rollbacks


The U.S. Congress has voted to pass legislation to ease sweeping banking rules put in place following the 2007 financial crisis.


The new bipartisan bill on the 2010 Dodd-Frank Act rolls back rules that stifled small banks, but keeps in place key legislation for large financial institutions.

U.S. Olympic Committee executives face lawmakers

Top executives on the U.S. Olympic committee and the heads of the governing bodies of four sports are being questioned by a panel in Congress, about their alleged failure to protect athletes from sexual abuse by coaches.

This comes as the USA Gymnastics scandal — in which team doctor Larry Nasser was sent to jail after sexually abusing athletes for years — continues to unfold.

UN Security Council discuss Israel/Palestine

The United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace
Process says more must be done to reduce the chance of another
devastating conflict in Gaza.

Earlier this month at least 60 Palestinians were killed during clashes
with Israeli forces at the border.

UK court hears IS suspect encouraged attackers to target Prince George

German city bans some diesel vehicles

The German city of Hamburg announced bans on older diesel vehicles on two streets, which will affect more than a hundred thousand drivers in the city.

It's the first German city to ban diesel vehicles after a landmark court ruling earlier this year.

11 protesters killed in clash with Indian police

Eleven people were killed and nine others critically injured after police in the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu opened fire at protesters. 

Locals were demanding the closure of an industrial copper smelter they claim is causing environmental damage and polluting the underground water.

Facebook's Zuckerberg tells European Parliament 'data-hack won't be repeated'


The head of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg attended a hearing at the European Parliament in Brussels Tuesday

Zukerberg reportedly spent 30 minutes responding to questions from MEPs, attempting to reassure politicians that safeguards would protect facebooks users against another data scandal.

Earlier this year it was reported that the social media giant had improperly shared the data of 87 million people with political consultancy, Cambridge Analytica.

Trump casts doubt on meeting with Kim

Formal Complaint Made Against UK Speaker


An official complaint has been made about the Speaker of the UK's House of Commons, John Bercow.


Mr Bercow is accused of describing a cabinet minister as a 'stupid woman' - the standards watchdog has confirmed it has received the complaint, which comes following an inquiry into other claims that the speaker bullied two former private secretaries.

Manchester marks one year anniversary of suicide attack that killed 22 people
