Britain's Royal Bank of Scotland has agreed to pay nearly $5 billion to US regulators to settle a long-running probe into its actions in the lead up to the 2008 financial crisis.
RBS described the settlement as a milestone and financial markets reacted positively with RBS shares rising nearly 5 per cent in early trade. From London, Catherine Drew reports.
