French Parliament passes controversial new immigration law

The French Parliament has voted through a tough new immigration law, tightening the rules around asylum.

The bill sparked so much opposition - including from within President Macron's own party - that it was debated over one of the longest parliamentary sessions in recent history, going late into the night on both Saturday and Sunday.

Modi, Xi to hold informal talks in China

India and China have announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Xi Jinping will be meeting later this week for a first ever 'informal summit'.

Both nations have indicated this is an attempt to dramatically reset ties in the backdrop of the 73-day military standoff between Indian and Chinese militaries at Doklam last year.

Sources say that the two day summit is going to be informal in nature- there will be no bilateral delegation accompanying the two leaders.

Macron begins US visit urging Trump to stay in Iran deal

As French President Emmanuel Macron begins a three day state visit to the US, he is calling on the American president not to pull out of the Iran nuclear deal.

Donald Trump has threatened to leave the pact, which limits Iran's nuclear program in return for sanctions relief, unless it's "toughened up".

US students walk out again over gun violence

Thousands of US students have walked out of class to demand stricter gun laws.

It comes a month after a national walkout over the mass shooting that killed 17 people at a high school in Florida.

Wells Fargo Fined One Billion Dollars

Migrant caravan reaches US-Mexico border

About fifty Central American migrants who were crossing Mexico have arrived at the U.S. border.

The group set out from southern Mexico a month ago, and was initially made up of some 1500 people.

But its size diminished under pressure from US President Trump and officials in Mexico.

Reports: Prince Charles chosen to be next head of Commonwealth

Salisbury residents reassures over nerve agent concerns

The British government says Salisbury is safe after reports that traces of the nerve agent used to poison a former Russian spy last month were found in the city.

Indian Opposition parties moves to impeach top judge

For the first time in the history of the country, members of the Opposition have moved an impeachment motion against the senior most just of the Indian Supreme Court.

60 Indian lawmakers have signed the petition which claims that the Chief Justice is 'abusing his position'.

The Supreme Court has called the motion 'unfortunate' and has urged the Indian government to ban the media from reporting the impeachment process.

Comey memos released to Congress

President Trump told former FBI Director James Comey he had serious questions about the judgement of his national security adviser, Mike Flynn, according to memos written by Comey.

Mr Comey kept records of his conversations with President Trump in the weeks before his firing in May 2017. The 35 pages of documents were released to the US Congress for review.

Miguel Diaz-Canel replaces Raul Castro as Cuba's President



Cuba has a new leader.

Miguel Diaz-Canel was officially named president on Thursday after being voted in by the Island's National Assembly.  

His appontment is the first time for almost 60 years that a Castro isn't leading the country.  

Diaz Canel says he's commited to uphoold the traditions and values of Cuba's communist rule.
