Cuba prepares for new President as Raul Castro steps down


Miguel Diaz Canel has been named the sole candidate to succeed Cuban President Raul Castro as head of state.

Diaz Canel, a 57-year old communist official and current vice-president, will mark the end of the Castros' 6-decade hold on power in Cuba.

Trump contradicts himself on reason for Comey sacking

U.S. President Donald Trump says he did not fire former FBI Director James Comey because of the Russia investigation - a statement which directly contradicts his earlier comments on the matter.

Trump fired Comey last May as the FBI was investigating whether Moscow had meddled in the 2016 presidential election.

Trump and Abe continue talks, following reveal that CIA director met with Kim Jong Un

White House official apologizes to US Ambassador Haley over sanctions confusion


The US ambassador to the UN has hit back against a White House official who claimed Nikki Haley was 'confused' when she announced a new wave of sanctions against Russia.

Earlier in the week, Ambassador Haley said tough new penalties were imminent, only for the White House to walk back her remarks.

Syria chemical weapons visited postponed

Indian Minister claims ancient Indians created the internet

A senior minister of the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party of India has claimed that internet and satellite communication existed in India thousands of years ago.

Russian news agencies report US told Moscow there will be no new sanctions for now

CIA Director 'met with Kim Jong Un'

CIA Director Mike Pompeo made a top-secret to North Korea to meet with Kim Jong-Un, US media reports.

President Trump says the US is considering five locations for a summit with Kim Jong-Un of North Korea.

The US President was speaking at the start of a Florida meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe. The two men are expected to discuss North Korea and trade.

One person dead after Southwest Airlines Emergency

One person has died after an engine exploded on a plane flying from
New York to Dallas.

There were reports of a passenger almost being sucked out of a window.
