Corbyn calls Syria strikes "legally questionable"

British opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn has described the overnight military action taken by the US, the UK and France against Syria as "legally questionable" and said such action won't save lives or bring peace.

The comments of the Labour leader come after British Prime Minister Theresa May said UK intelligence concluded it was highly likely that the Syrian government of Bashar al-Assad was responsible for a chemical attack on Douma which killed at least 80 people.  She said the normalization of the use of such weapons could not go unchallenged.

Theresa May acted without the approval of the UK parliament which is currently in recess.   Jeremy Corbyn says she should have consulted MPs and not acted unilaterally.

May defends UK military action in Syria, says missile strikes were "right and legal"

British Prime Minister Theresa May says it had was "right and legal" to take military action against Syria after overnight missile strikes targeted suspected chemical weapons facilities.   Speaking from Downing Street, the UK leader said authorities are confident that the air strikes carried out by the UK, France and the US have been successful.

RAF fighter jets carrying Storm Shadow missiles targeted a former military base 15 miles west of Homs, where it's thought the Syrian government of Bashar al-Assad stores material to make chemical weapons.

The action comes after a chemical weapons attack on the city of Douma which killed more than 80 people and injured hundreds.

British Prime Minister Theresa May says the action sends  a strong message that there will be consequences for the use of chemical weapons.
