Russia says international community does not back the UK in spy row
Russia's ambassador to the UK Alexander Yakovenko says the majority of international countries have not sided with the UK in the row over the poisoning of a former Russian spy and his daughter with a nerve agent in Salisbury.
Russia has called an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council later today.
It comes as Russian state media has aired a recording of a phone call reported to be between the daughter of poisoned spy Sergei Skripal and her cousin Viktoria. In the conversation the alleged Yulia Skripal says that everything is ok, that her father is resting and everyone's health is fine. The woman adds that she is expecting to be discharged from the hospital soon.
On Wednesday, a meeting of the world's chemical weapons watchdog, the OPCW, saw a number of countries abstain from a vote in which Russia was seeking a joint investigation into the poisoning with the UK. Russia did not succeed in the motion however Ambassador Yakovenko says this shows the international community does not believe the UK's accusations.

Russia calls for UN Security Council meeting over spy poisoning case
Russia has called for the UN Security Council to meet later to discuss the spy poisoning case in Salisbury which saw the use of a nerve agent. Moscow has lost an attempt to stage a joint investigation with the UK into the poisoning at a meeting of the world's chemical weapons watchdog, the OPCW on Wednesday.
UK authorities say they believe Russia was behind the attack on former spy Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia in early March, charges Moscow has vehemently denied.
The OPCW is conducting its own tests on the agent used in the attack. Russia's Ambassador to the OPCW Alexander Shulgin says Moscow has no confidence that inquiry will be impartial.
