UK says Russia involvement would compromise chemical weapons body

A British delegation says that the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemial Weapons must allow independent and impartial experts to investigate the Salisbury attack without involvement from Russia. The latest statement suggests that Russian involvement would compromise the OPCW's impartiality. Dan Ashby has more.

Amazon may make bid for Indian rival Flipkart

Amazon could make an offer to buy Indian e-commerce company Flipkart, according to reports in the India media.

China unveils new tariffs on 106 U.S. Products

China has announced it's slapping retaliatory tariffs on 106 products
from the United States.

The move comes after the U.S. proceeded with a plan to impose tariffs

Bodies of Ugandan Soldiers Killed in Somalia Returned Home

The bodies of the 4 Ugandan soldiers who were killed in an Al Shabab attack in Somalia have been brought back home.

Six others were injured in the attack after the militants detonated two car bombs near the AMISOM base, 130km outside the capital Mogadishu.

Chemical Weapons Watchdog to Meet at Russia's Request

India's cricket body auctions multi-million dollar media rights

The Board of Control for Cricket in India or the BCCI is auctioning the media rights for Indian cricket. The bid process started on Tuesday and is expected to wind up by the end of Wednesday. 

According to the Broadcast Audience Research Council of India, India has about 717 million people watch cricket.

US plans 25% tariffs on 1,300 Chinese imports

More than a thousand Chinese products are the subject of a new round of proposed US tariffs.  

The 25% tax would affect 13-hundred products worth about 50-billion-dollars. 

It's an effort to correct the country's ballooning trade deficit with China and a response to Beijing's imposition of duties on about 3 billion dollars worth of US exports.

A review process is underway till May before the list can take effect.

But our Washington correspondent Kate Fisher says many US businesses don't want to see them imposed

French government faces down railway strike

The French government says it will not back down on planned railway reforms - after the first day of a rolling strike planned to last three months.

Just one in eight high speed train are expected to run on Wednesday.

4 wounded after woman opens fire at YouTube HQ in California

Police say a woman who opened fire at the headquarters of YouTube just outside San Francisco, killed herself at the scene of the attack.


4 people were wounded.


The motive for the shooting is unclear, as our US correspondent Simon Marks reports.

Source of nerve agent in Salisbury attack 'not identified'


The head of Britain's main defence laboratory says the source of the nerve agent used to poison a former Russian spy and his daughter has not been verified yet. 

The chief of the Porton Down research centre said the substance used in the Salisbury attack was likely to have been deployed by a state actor.

Trump says he'll Negotiate with China, as Trade War Heats Up

President Trump says he will continue negotiating with China as a trade war heats up between the two largest global economies.

China has imposed a series of tariffs this week on US products.

Beijing is retaliating for the White House decision to impose large steel and aluminium tariffs on imports.

Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates main donors for UN Yemen aid appeal

The United Nations is on track to meet its nearly three billion U.S.-dollar aid appeal for the Yemen crisis, after 40 nations pledged two thirds of the total amount sought for 2018. 


Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates pledged the biggest amount of half a billion dollars each, prompting questions about parties to the conflict as the main donors.

Moscow retaliates by expelling Montenegrin diplomat

Russia has expelled one diplomat from Montenegro in response to Montenegro doing the same over the poisoning of the Russian spy in the UK.
