Thousands ordered to leave their homes as storms engulf West of US

30 thousand people have been told to leave their homes as yet more
storms batter the West Coast of the US.

More than twenty people died in mudslides earlier this year - after
huge wildfires burned large areas bare.

For some communities this is the sixth evacuation order they've had in
a number of weeks.

US resident files lawsuit against Facebook

A US resident has sued Facebook and the political consultancy Cambridge Analytica for obtaining data from millions of social media users without their consent.

Facebook has been under pressure following allegations that Cambridge Analytica improperly accessed information to build detailed profiles on American voters during the 2016 US election.

Unarmed black man shot by police was holding mobile phone

An unarmed African-American man fatally shot by police in Sacramento on Sunday night was holding a mobile phone -- not a weapon, as police say they feared.

Twenty-two year-old Stephon Clark was standing in his own backyard when police mistook him for a suspect in a neighborhood crime.

Austin Bomb Suspect Blows Himself Up

Conservation concerns with Australian government legislation

In Australia the Labor Party opposition says the future of the iconic Great Barrier Reef is on the line, as it opposes new government plans to regulate marine parks.
On Wednesday, the government introduced changes to the regulation of 44 Australian marine parks, covering 3.3 million square hectares, that would reduce 'green' conservation areas in the Coral Sea from 50 to 25 per cent.

Police: Explosion in Austin not connected to package bombings

Police say they do not believe an explosion at a charity store in Austin is linked to a series of bombings in and around the city.

A store employee was injured after handing what authorities describe as "artillery simulators" that were found in a box of military mementos.

Chemical weapons body probes UK Russian spy attack

Minneapolis police officer charged over Australian woman's death

A Minneapolis police officer has turned himself in for gunning down Australian life coach Justine Ruszczyk Damond, in July last year.


She was shot dead moments after calling 911 to report what she believed was a sexual assault in an alley behind her house.


Ms Damond's death caused international outrage and prompted significant changes to the police department's policy on body cameras.


Now, police officer Mohamed Noor faces charges of third-degree murder, and second-degree manslaughter.
