The American evangelist Billy Graham has died at the age of 99.
Often considered the man who invented the modern evangelical movement, he claimed that he had preached the Gospel to more people than anyone else in history.
His "revival meetings" and "crusades" were a fixture on the American social landscape for more than 60 years, and he was revered by successive US Presidents.

The American evangelist Billy Graham has died at the age of 99.
Often considered the man who invented the modern evangelical movement, he claimed that he had preached the Gospel to more people than anyone else in history.
His "revival meetings" and "crusades" were a fixture on the American social landscape for more than 60 years, and he was revered by successive US Presidents.
His ministry found fame in 1949, when he pitched a circus tent in Los Angeles and started preaching the word with a style and showmanship that few Americans had seen before.
