OXFAM PUBLISHES ABUSE REPORT

Oxfam has published its internal report from 2011 into alleged abuse by some of its staff - and it reveals three men accused of misconduct in Haiti physically threatened witnesses during an investigation.

The UK-based organisation is under international pressure over how it handled an inquiry into claims aid workers in Haiti had used prostitutes.

Oxfam says systems should be established so charities are warned about so-called 'problem staff'.

Authorities in India continue investigation of jeweller in connection with $1.8bn bank fraud

Authorities in India are continuing to investigate a 1.8 billion US dollar bank scam which allegedly involved an Indian jeweller, popular among Hollywood stars.

School shooting survivors plan march on Washington

Young survivors of Wednesday's school shooting in Florida have announced a national march on Washington next month, demanding action from lawmakers on gun control. 

Seventeen students and staff died in the shooting in Parkland, Florida last week.

But as Harry Horton reports from Washington, the students-turned-activists will likely face an uphill struggle in their battle to bring about new gun laws.

Florida students to march on Washington

The survivors of the shooting at the Florida high school are planning to march on Washington on March 24 to tell lawmakers gun control must be a priority.

U.S. President Donald Trump has yet to address the question of gun control, while praising first responders in a brief visit to Florida.

Governor of Florida Calls for Resignation of FBI Director

UN rights agency says Hungary immigration bill is "assault on human rights"

The United Nations human rights agency believes Hungary's proposed anti-immigration measure is -- quote -- "an assault on human rights."


The bill allowing the government to ban non-government organizations that support migration would undermine NGO activity and further stigmatize groups already under pressure, warned the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human rights.

US Indicts Russians Over Election Interference

The US Justice Department has indicted 13 Russians and 3 organizations with a criminal conspiracy to interfere with the 2016 presidential elections.

The indictment by Special Investigator Robert Mueller alleges deep penetration of the American political  system through social media and through organized election rallies.

It names the St. Petersburg based Internet Research Agency as the organizing hub which employed  hundreds  of people, some who stole the identities of Americans.

FBI Admits Failing to Act on Tip Warning of School Shooting

UN human rights chief calls on Iran to end executions of minors

US and Turkey work to defuse tensions

French retailers say they continued receiving recalled Lactalis baby milk products

French grocery chains are saying they continued receiving products after a recall deadline for tainted baby milk formula had passed.

OXFAM PROMISES 'JUSTICE'

Oxfam is promising 'justice' for any victims of exploitation by its staff.

Oxfam International's executive director Winnie Byanyima has become the charity's most senior figure to speak out on the scandal.

She says a commission will be set up to look into historic and current allegations of abuse.

Oxfam faces a growing scandal which emerged out of criticism about the way it handled claims staff used prostitutes during an aid mission in Haiti in 2011.

The charity has lost a series of high-profile ambassadors over the allegations, but actor Simon Pegg says he's standing by it for now.
