Major U.S. School Shooting: Gunman in Custody

There have been 'numerous fatalities' in a mass shooting, according to a school official in the US state of Florida.

Police have confirmed they've taken the gunman into custody two hours after the first reports of gunshots.

He is reportedly a student at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland.

SpaceX to build space broadband network

Suspect in custody after deadly shooting at Florida high school


Authorities say a suspect is in custody after a deadly shooting at a high school in Parkland, Florida.

Police responded to earlier reports of an active shooter at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, with a school official describing numerous fatalities.

South African President Resigns

South African President Jacob Zuma has resigned from office, with immediate effect.

The embattled leader has been under tremendous pressure from members of his own party.

Zuma has been under corruption investigations while his party, the ANC, has seen a decline in its popularity.

Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa, who replaced the President as ANC leader is expected to become acting president.

Zuma said he has served the country to the best of his ability.

It's reported there have been several victims in a mass shooting at a Florida school.

Zimbabwe opposition leader Tsvangirai dies at age 65

Zimbabwe's main opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai has died in South Africa.

The 65-year-old former prime minister was being treated in hospital for colon cancer. 

Tsvangirai led the opposition Movement for Democratic Change, and was imprisoned and injured numerous times during a long struggle against former president Robert Mugabe.

Professor Stephen Chan of the University of London's School of Oriental and African Studies says Tsvangirai should be remembered as a brave, if flawed, politician.

Northern Ireland talks collapse with no agreement

Talks to restore Northern Ireland's power sharing assembly have broken up with the Democratic Unionist Party, the DUP, saying they see no current prospect of reaching agreement.

Trump lawyer confirms porn star payout, declines to offer explanation

US plan for Middle East peace 'fairly advanced'

Aid trucks reach besieged Syrian suburb

Zuma refuses to resign
