US sanctions 4 nationals of Democratic Republic Of Congo

The United States has sanctioned four individuals from the Democratic Republic of Congo whom it is accusing of engaging in activities that are prolonging the conflict in the country.

European markets head for day of falls after US, Asia

Macron heads to Corsica amid separatist row


French President Emmanuel Macron has arrived in Corsica on Tuesday, for what could be one of the trickiest visits of his presidency.


In recent regional elections, the island voted overwhelmingly for separatist parties who want much greater autonomy from Paris.

Indian stock markets plunge, sharpest decline in three years

Indian stock markets have seen their sharpest falls since 2015.

RUSSIAN ATHLETICS CHIEFS SLAM IOC

Russian athletics chiefs say the International Olympic Committee's decision not to allow 15 Russian athletes and coaches to attend the Winter Olympics is causing 'irreparable damage' to Olympic ideals and values.

Indian Prime Minister to visit Palestine

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be travelling to Palestine later this week- barely two weeks after he played host to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

This will be the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Ramallah and comes weeks after India vetoed a US proposal to recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital at the United Nations.

Wall St plunges over rate rise fears

Wall Street has had one of its worst days on record, with the Dow
Jones closing almost 1200 points lower, the fastest one-day plunge in
almost ten years.

US markets continued the downward decline that started on Friday,
following strong jobs and wage data, which raised fears of extra
interest rate rises.

South Sudanese Leaders Begin Fresh Peace Talks

Warring parties in South Sudan's civil conflict are beginning peace talks in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa.

It comes as the United Nations is warning of a worsening humanitarian crisis in which one in three South Sudanese have fled their homes. 

The United States last week announced an arms embargo on South Sudan, though most weapons are sourced from other countries. 

Brian Adeba from the Enough Project says he hopes it will be followed up by comprehensive financial sanctions on leaders.

US attacks Russia for Syria chemical weapons cover

The United States and Russia have traded blows at the United Nations Security Council over how to police allegations of chemical weapons use in Syria.

Moscow calls for killed pilot to become 'Hero of Russia'

The Russian Defence Ministry says the airforce pilot who was shot down in Syria should be given an award that makes him a 'Hero of Russia'. The SU-25 plane came down in northern Idlib province, which has seen heavy air strikes and fighting between Syria's government forces backed by Russia and rebel groups opposed to President Bashar al-Assad. Pres. Trump lacks authority to target DPRK - Democrats

Australian Labor swings support away from Adani Coal Mine

In Australia the Labor party has shifted its support for the Adani coal mine in Queensland, but the Greens Party say they're sceptical until they see an "iron-clad promise" it will never be built.

Australian Stock Market plummets following Friday's Wall Street fall.
