UK SELLS ICONIC BANGKOK EMBASSY

The UK has sold its embassy in Bangkok for £420m / $600m.

The foreign office will move its diplomats from the colonial-era building to a modern tower block in the Thai capital.

Britain says it will allow it to invest the funds elsewhere, and to improve its facilities in Bangkok.

But critics say it shows the UK's Foreign and Commonwealth Office is being under-funded.
