Donald Trump paid woman for sex - reports

Donald Trump's attorney created a company to quietly pay a woman who works in the adult entertainment industry for her intimate relations with the now president, the Wall Street Journal reports.

The lawyer created companies, using false names, to facilitate payment right before the 2016 election.

US Government Heading for Shutdown

The US government could effectively shut down on Saturday because of a failure by Republicans and Democrats to agree on spending.

Members of the US House have voted through a bill, but Democrats in the US Senate are holding back their crucial support.

They want Republicans to also support an Obama-era program to protect the children of illegal immigrants from deportation.

If a deal isn't reached at least 800,000 government workers would stay at home until a deal is reached, though critical services would continue. 

The White House Budget Director Mick Mulvaney says this is not the President's fault.

UNICEF: 1.3m Iraqi children displaced by ISIS fighting

The United Nations children's agency UNICEF says 1.3 million children have been displaced after three years of conflict with the Islamic State, or ISIS.

UNICEF says it will now take many more years to rebuild the lives of millions of civilians forced to flee the violence.

China: India should not comment on our border activity

Months after India and China settled a border dispute, China has staked claim over that disputed territory again. 

The Chinese government claims that it has legitimate right over land in the Doklam region. Bhutan claims Doklam as its own and India has backed its ally's claim.

The border dispute over Doklam was one of the longest stand-offs between India and China since the 1962 war the two nations fought.

New Zealand's Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern's confirmed she's expecting a baby.

CALIFORNIA 'TORTURE COUPLE' PLEAD NOT GUILTY

Two parents accused of torturing their children at their home in California have pleaded not guilty.

David and Louise Turpin appeared in court after prosecutors detailed charges of torture, abuse and imprisonment against them.

It's claimed they chained their children to their beds, only allowed them one shower a year, and that the children lacked a 'basic knowledge of life'.

Somalia Begins Security Transition

The Somali government and partners have established a Core Group, tasked with the responsibility of developing a transition plan for Somalia.

 

The Transition Core Group will oversee the transfer of the national security responsibility from African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), to the Somali Security Forces.

 

African Union troops deployed to Somalia in 2007 to defend the internationally-backed government against attacks by the Al-Shabaab, an Al-Qaeda affiliate still carrying out attacks on civilian, military and government targets.

FBI queries funding role of Russian banker

The FBI counterintelligence investigators want to know if Alexander Torshin, a Russian banker and friend of President Vladimir Putin, funnelled money to the NRA.

Britain and France have agreed to deepen co-operation in a series of areas as the UK leaves the EU.
