Melbourne CBD is at a standstill after an SUV ploughed into pedestrians outside the main railway station during the Thursday evening peak.

North Korean Soldier defects to the South

South Korean guards have fired warning shots at North Korean troops searching for a defector.

The  soldier fled across the heavily guarded demilitarized zone that splits the peninsula.

It's the second defection from the isolated state in about five weeks.

Senators warn Pres. Trump to NOT fire special counsel

The top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee is publicly warning U.S. President Donald Trump to not fire Special Counsel Robert Mueller.

U.S. President Donald Trump has said he won't, but that claim has been met with skepticism, as attorneys representing the American president are supposed to meet with a team from the special counsel's office.

Senator Mark Warner, a Democrat from Virginia, and the ranking member of the intelligence committee issued a stark warning on the floor of the U.S. Senate.

Myanmar ends cooperation with UN human rights investigator, bans her entry

Myanmar's government has barred the United Nations' human rights investigator from entering the country, claiming her last assessment from a July visit was biased and unfair. 


The UN human rights agency said its Special Rapporteur Yanghee Lee was due to visit Myanmar again in January to assess human rights conditions, including alleged abuses against Rohingya Muslims.

BRUSSELS SETS OUT BREXIT TALKS GUIDELINES

Brussels says any 'transition period' following the UK's exit from the EU should only last to December 2020.

The European Union's chief negotiatior Michel Barnier's been setting out guidelines for the next phase of Brexit talks.

A first phase deal was agreed earlier this month, after months of talks.

This as UK Prime Minister Theresa May works to secure agreement in her cabinet as to the type of end-state relationship that should be sought with the EU.

Senate pass Republican tax plan [CLIPS]

Republican lawmakers in the United States have moved one step closer
to passing the most comprehensive overhaul of the country's tax system
in 30 years.

Delhi government tests anti-smog gun

Haley sends strong message to UN ahead of Jerusalem vote

The U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations says her country will be
taking names of nations that go against Washington's decision to
recognize Jerusalem as the Israeli capital.
