Eighteen Police Officers Killed in Somalia Attack

A suicide bomber has killed 18 police officers at a training academy in Somalia's capital Mogadishu.

US Cuts Aid To Somalia

FCC cancels 'net neutrality' rules

The Federal Communications Commission has cancelled rules on 'net neutrality' - that is, treating all data that flows over the fiber optic cables of the internet equally.

Consumer groups are warning that this regulation change will lead to higher costs and gating - that is, firms deliberately slowing some data flows in favor of others.

Pres. Trump remains optimistic about tax reform despite growing opposition

U.S. President Donald Trump remains optitmistic his tax reform legislation can be passed, despite the fact that Republican Senator Marco Rubio now says he'll vote no.

Opposition has been growing, and there are further problems in that Senator McCain is in hospital as is Senator Cochran.

U.S. President Donald Trump does not want Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Paul Ryan to retire.

Politico Magazine reports that Paul Ryan has spoken openly to friends that he's ready to retire after the 2018 mid-term elections.

The Trump administration does not support Roy Moore's claims that the vote is not yet certified in the Alabama special election to fill the open U.S. Senate seat for the state.

Pyongyang warns US that naval blockade is step towards nuclear war

North Korea has warned that a naval blockade as part of sanctions proposed by the US would be a big step towards a nuclear confrontation. 


State news agency KCNA delivered the warning Thursday that Pyongyang would view the move as violating its sovereignty, and will respond with counter-measures.

US shows evidence of Iran arming Houthi rebels

The US Ambassador to the United Nations has unveiled what she says is
"irrefutable evidence" that Iran has violated UN rules by providing
Houthi rebels in Yemen with weapons.

Standing in front of a display of missile parts, Nikki Haley said Iran
had repeatedly gone against regulations and tried to cover up weapons
transfers and ballistic missile activity.

She warned Iran could become the next North Korea if the international

Rep. Farenthold to retire after allegations of misbehavior

U.S. Rep. Blake Farenthold (fair-en-HOLD) has announced his retirement after multiple allegations of abuse, harassement and other inappropriate behavior in his Congressional office.

Republicans optimistic about tax cut legislation

Roy Moore refuses to concede Alabama special election

Republican candidate Roy Moore is refusing to concede that he's lost the special election to fill the open U.S. Senate seat for Alabama.

Turnout was much higher than expected - some 40 percent of Alabama voters - and the Alabama state secretary - who must certify the electionresults by December 29 - says a recount is extremely unlikely.

Roy Moore issued a video statement to his supporters insisting the race is not over yet.

SIX MONTHS ON: GRENFELL TOWER BLAZE

It's exactly six months since the Grenfell Tower fire in London which left 71 people dead.

Politicians, members of the royal family, bereaved relatives, survivors and emergency services workers are joining commemorations at St Paul's Cathedral in London.

The blaze in a block of flats on June 14th was one of Britain's worst peace-time tragedies.
