UN call on social media companies to do more on migrant issue

The United Nations migration agency has urged social media companies
to do more to protect people against trafficking in Africa.

The UN body warn that smugglers use sites like Facebook to attract
would-be migrants from West Africa.

Moving US embassy in Israel to take time - Sec. Tillerson

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson says moving the U.S. embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem will take at least two years.

Jerusalem clashes as UN meets

There have been more violent clashes between Israeli soldiers and Palestinians after the US President recognized Jerusalem as Israel's capital.

Palestinians says around 200 people have been injured, and one man killed. 

It comes as the UN Security Council holds an emergency meeting.

BREXIT DEAL REACHED

The UK and the European Commission have reached a Brexit deal.

The announcement in Brussels means Brexit negotiations can move on to the next phase - if rubber-stamped at a key summit next week.

Video of suspected hate crime sparks outrage in India

A Muslim was hacked and burnt to death in the Indian state of Rajasthan and the entire crime was recorded on a cell phone. Police have since arrested the main suspect. 

Critics allege that since Prime Minister Modi's victory in 2014, the far right has been emboldened and crimes against minority groups have been on the rise- a claim the ruling party denies.

Indian government plans to seal its border with Bangladesh to stem Rohingya inflow

India's Home Minister has indicated that the government is keen to stop the migration of Rohingya refugees from Bangladesh into India.

Currently, the government is fighting a case in India's Supreme Court to deport the 40,000 Rohingya refugees who live in India.

FBI director defends agency

FBI director Christopher Wray defended the law enforcement agency he leads to the House Judiciary Committee after U.S. President Donald Trump claimed on social media, the FBI is in tatters.

The White House remains frustrated the the focus remains on possible ties between the 2016 Trump Campaign and Russian operatives, when they want further investigation of Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server while she was Secretary of State.

US team may stay home from Winter Olympics - White House

U.S. President Donald Trump may yet decide the American Olympic team should not travel to Pyeongchang, South Korea for the Winter Olympics.

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley opened the can of worms when she told the Fox News Channel it was still an open question about whether the U.S. athletes were going, and they were discussing how best to protect Americans in the region.

Dozens injured in Bethlehem clashes

At least 31 were injured as violence broke out in the historic city of Bethlehem following U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to unilaterally confirm Jerusalem as Israel's capital and move the American embassy there.

The United Nations Security Council is set to hold an emergency meeting on the growing crisis.

From global leaders to the Congressional lawmakers have condemned the decision, but at the White House, spokesperson Sarah Huckabee Sanders says President Trump's decision is courageous.

Trump's poll numbers hit new record lows

Severe "purple" alert issued for California's wildfires

Sen. Franken to resign

Oscars Organization Creates Code of Conduct

The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Science has adopted its first code of conduct.


The Academy is the organization that awards the Oscars.

UK Government says it's confident of reaching deal over Irish border issue
