BALI VOLCANO ALERT LEVEL RAISED

The evacuation zone around Bali's Mount Agung has been widened because of fears there could be a major eruption imminent.

The volcano continues to spew dark smoke, ash and fire into the air.

Bali's airport is closed and Indonesian authorities have raised the alert to its highest level.

Thousands of tourists are stranded on the island with flights not operating.

Australian TV host accused of groping

Former Australian top rating television personality Don Burke has been accused of sexually harassing and indecently assaulting women who worked on his gardening program in the 1980s and 1990s.
The man who hosted Bourke's Backyard on Australia's Nine Network for almost 17 years until it was cancelled in 2004 says he's "deeply hurt and outraged" by the claims, which he says were made by former employees with grudges against him and were baseless.

Turkey FM: Donald Trump told Turkish counterpart that the US will stop arming YPG in Syria

Three UN peacekeepers killed in Mali

London's Oxford Circus reopens after incident attended by armed police

On one of the busiest shopping days of the year, police in central London were called to one the capital's busy shopping district following reports of shots being fired.


Police had treated the incident as if it were terror related, but following an evacuation of the Oxford Circus tube station and a through search of the area, concluded no evidence to suggest there had been shots fired or casualties.


Shoppers fled the scene and were advised to seek refuge in nearby shops, the cordon placed around the area has now been lifted and central London is beginning to return to normal, as our UK Correspondent Natalie Powell reports.

IOC bans Russian bobsledders and speed skaters over doping in Sochi

The International Olympic Committee has banned two Russian bobsledders and two speed skaters for life from the Olympics over doping violations at the 2014 Sochi Games.  The IOC said it had voided the athletes' results from the Sochi Games.  As a result Russia has lost its top place in an unofficial medal count table at the Sochi Games. Zimbabwe has sworn in a new leader after the end of Robert Mugabe's 37 year reign


Crowds have gathered the capital Harare for the inauguration of Emerson M-nan-gag-wa - the former Vice President.


It comes following an intervention by the ruling Zanu PF party and the army to force Mr Mugabe to stand down.


Zimbabwean Robin Brown, who now lives in the UK, believes this could be the beginning of an era of change for the country.
