Federal Regulators Plan to Repeal Net Neutrality

Federal regulators in the US have unveiled a plan to repeal net neutrality. 
Rolling back the regulations would give Internet providers broad powers to determine what websites and online services their customers can see, and at what cost.

Google to "de-rank" Sputnik, Russia Today to fight online misinformation

Google plans to derank Russian-owned news agencies Russia Today and Sputnik as part of its fight against online misinformation.


Eric Schmidt, head of Google's parent company Alphabet, said the search engine is working to limit the reach of state-run Russian news sites accused of US elections interference.

International Community Considers Future Without Mugabe

There are scenes of jubilation on the streets of the Zimbabwean capital, following the resignation of Robert Mugabe.

He stood down after 37 years following a military takeover last week.

The ruling party Zanu-PF is indicating that the ousted Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa will take over as president, pending elections after several months of transition.

Trump administration ends protections for Haitian immigrants

The US government is ending protections for tens of thousands of Haitian immigrants living in the United States.

The Trump administration says Haitians in the US living under a Temporary Protected Status program since an earthquake devastated the Caribbean country in 2010 have until July 2019 to return home.

US officials also recently ended years-long protections for people from Nicaragua.

The United Nations has urged for calm in Zimbabwe following the
resignation of President Robert Mugabe.

Indian government to bring in a law against instant verbal divorce

The Indian government is likely to introduce a law in Parliament soon that will make instant verbal divorce illegal.

Earlier this year, India's highest court had deemed the practice unconstitutional and outlawed it.
