US-backed forces speed up Syria offense

US-backed Syrian forces say the campaign against the so-called Islamic
State is set to accelerate.

The comments come after the fall of the IS stronghold of Raqqa earlier
this week.

Pres. Trump questioned over response to deaths of 4 US soldiers in Niger

UK'S BREXIT LEGISLATION 'DELAYED'

A key piece of Brexit legislation's reportedly been delayed in the UK - throwing the government's timetable into doubt.

It's understood that the EU Withdrawal Bill is unlikely to be discussed again in the House of Commons until November, because of a lack of political agreement.

The bill is designed to turn EU law into UK legislation before Britain leaves the European Union.

It's supposed to allow the gradual repealing of laws Britain wants to lose or change, while avoiding a legislative black hole on the day the UK Brexits.

Indian soldier thrashed over rumours of braid-chopping

In the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, a soldier was beaten up by a mob over rumours that he was involved in a string of braid-chopping incidents.

The soldier was later rescued by the Army.

In the last few weeks several incidents of assailants chopping the hair of unsuspecting women have led to mass hysteria.

Pres. Trump claims credit for success against Islamic State

U.S. President Donald Trump claims the reason why the Islamic State is falling is due to his changes in strategy.

The U.S. military says the operations to fully clear Raqqa of Islamic State fighters is contining.

Earlier, the U.S. military had indicated, it is using the strategy formulated under the Obama administration to continue to partner with forces in the region to defeat the group.

In an interview with conservative talk show host Chris Plante (of WMAL - a talk radio station in the American capital) U.S. President Donald Trump says, it's because he's president now that the Islamic State is giving up.

UN: Up to 15,000 Rohingya refugees awaiting entry into camp in Bangladesh

Tens of thousands of Rohingya refugees have been awaiting entry into
Bangladesh's refugee camp - and are facing a worsening humanitarian
situation, according to the United Nations.

The UN estimates that almost 600,000 Rohingya refugees have arrived in
Bangladesh since an uptick of violence in Myanmar's Rakhine state in
late August.

No NFL rule change over anthem protests

The US American Football association, the NFL, has left its policy
unchanged and will not demand that players stand during the national
anthem.

It follows months of social protests with players kneeling during the
anthem - a move that US President Donald Trump says disrespects the
country.

US says clearance of Raqqa continues

The U.S. military says the work to fully clear Raqqa, Syria of all Islamic State forces continues.

A spokesman for the Syrian Democratic Forces says the fighting is over, and the Islamic State no longer controls the city it considered the capital of its caliphate.

U.S. Army Colonel Ryan Dillon would only confirm the majority of the city is no longer under Islamic State control.

Senators agree to compromise on health care

Key U.S. Senators agreed to a deal to restore funds on health care that earlier U.S. President Donald Trump tried to cut by executive order.

Previous efforts to carry out Donald Trump's campaign promise to repeal and replace the legislation nicknamed ObamaCare, the Affordable Care Act, which expanded access to health care insurance have failed.
