Trump blames media for Charlottesville controversy

US President Donald Trump has blamed the media for the controversy over his response to a white supremacist rally in Virginia.

At a rally in Phoenix, Mr Trump told supporters the media was misrepresenting his words.

His initial statement on the violence in Charlottesville was criticized after he blamed "many sides" for the trouble.

But in a campaign style rally on Tuesday night, Trump attacked the media as dishonest.

UK MP SUGGESTS WOMEN-ONLY TRAIN CARRIAGES

A British MP is urging the Government to look into introducing womeon-only train carriages on public transport.


It comes after figures showed an increase in reports of sexual offences on public transport, however the calls to introduce women-only carriages has come under criticism from other groups.

UK gov: No 'direct jurisdiction' for ECJ after Brexit

The British government is set to tell EU negotiators the European Court of Justice will no "direct jurisdiction" in the UK after Brexit.

A new Downing Street policy paper suggests it's "neither necessary nor appropriate" for the ECJ to continue to have a role.

But critics say the wording leaves open the possibility the court may still exert influence.

Theme park ride shakeup in Queensland following last year's Dreamworld deaths

In Australia's Queensland, theme park owners and show ride operators will now face some of the toughest penalties in the country for flouting safety rules under proposed industrial manslaughter laws.

With an eye on boosting its indigenous defence production and shoring up its defence capabilities, the Indian government has expressed interest to buy over 200 military helicopters.

Tillerson: Pakistan risking US relationship because of support for terrorism

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson says the Trump administration still hasn't determined how many additional troops will be sent to Afghanistan, but he's promised that the American public will be given the number once a final decision is made.


He also said that Pakistan risks losing its status a non-NATO ally of the United States unless the government in Islamabad does more to combat terrorist groups operating on Pakistani soil.
