72 children die in Indian hospital, families allege hospital negligence

At a government run hospital in North India, 72 children have died in the last 5 days. Families allege that the death occurred because the oxygen supply in the neonatal and encephalitis wards was cut off over non-payment of dues.

The firm that supplies oxygen cylinders to this hospital however claims that it had warned the hospital repeatedly over 7 months to clear its dues.

The hospital has denied this claim. It alleges that the children were admitted in serious conditions and died of ill health.
