STUDY TO ASSESS IMPACT OF EU MIGRATION ON UK

The UK government is commissioning a major study into the costs and benefits of EU migrants.

The Migration Advisory Committee will look into current trends in migration and attempt to work out what impact will be felt by a cut in numbers after Brexit.

The UK will have to work up a new set of regulations for migration once it has left the European Union.

Senate closing in on Russian sanctions vote

A senior U.S. lawmaker has announced the Senate has reached an
agreement on a bill that would slap fresh sanctions on Russia, Iran
and North Korea.

On Tuesday the House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly in favor
of the bill that would also curtail the President's ability to lift
sanctions on Moscow without congressional approval.

Study: US Muslims say they face discrimination

Three quarters of all US Muslims say they face "a lot of discrimination," according to a new study.

A survey by the Pew Research Center finds more than seventy percent also believe President Donald Trump is "unfriendly toward Muslims."

The Council on American Islamic Relations says hate crimes against the Muslim community almost doubled in the first half of 2017, compared to the same period last year.

US announces sanctions targeting Maduro allies

Foxconn Announces First US Factory

President Trump has announced that the giant electronics supplier Foxconn will build its first factory in the United States.  

The company will invest $10 billion in what promises to be a sprawling facility in the state of Wisconsin.

US Senate rejects moves on health care

The U.S Senate continues to reject any significant changes to the Affordable Care Act, the health care and insurance legislation often referred to as ObamaCare.

Republican lawmakers continue to press on repealing and replacing the legislation, but many senators remain deeply concerned that costs will continue to rise while fewer Americans will have access to health care.

But for U.S. President Donald Trump, it remains one of his top campaign promises that he wants fulfilled.

Morale is high as Pres. Trump attacks cabinet

White House insists transgender decision about military readiness

The White House says U.S. President Donald Trump announced a ban on transgender persons serving in the U.S. military is based on money and readiness factors.

A year ago, then candidate Donald Trump promised he would fight harder for LGBT Americans even harder than Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton.

In a tweet, President Trump said the U.S. military cannot afford the tremendous costs and disruption of transgender soldiers.

A study by the bipartisan RAND Corporation (which has done consulting for the U.S. military for over 50 years) finds transgender soldiers and sailors have little to no impact on unit cohesion or readiness.

Iran threatens payback if US imposes new sanctions

Iran has threatened to respond in kind if the United States slaps new sanctions on it, saying it will continue to develop its defense capabilities.

US imposes additional sanctions on Venezuela

The Trump Administration has imposed sanctions on 13 senior Venezuelan government officials. 

 US officials say the sanctions are part of a US plan to increase  pressure on President Nicolas Maduro to cancel Sunday's elections for a controversial constituent assembly.

Parents of Terminally Ill Charlie Gard Fail To Reach Agreement with Hospital

The parents of terminally ill baby Charlie Gard have failed to reach an agreement with Great Ormond Street Hospital over where and how the child should be cared for in his final days.


The judge in the case has ruled that if an agreement is not reached by midday in the UK on Thursday, Charlie is to be taken to a hospice.

As China steps up warning, India refuses to withdraw troops

A day ahead of Indian National Security Advisor travelling to China, Beijing has once again asked India to withdraw its troops from the disputed Doklam region. 

China's Foreign Minister has said that India should 'conscientiously withdraw' its troops from Doklam if it wants bilateral talks on the border dispute. 

China and India have been locked in a month longer border stand-off with both sides accusing the other of trespassing a border area. India's ally stakes claim to Doklam.
