Peaceful pressure for North Korea - Tillerson

The Trump administration is prioritizing diplomatic and economic pressure to try to convince North Korea to return to the negotiating table following it's most recent missile tests.

The U.S., joined by allies South Korea and Japan, but also Russia, remain steadfast in the goal of a nuclear-free Korean peninsula.

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has a specific term for how they want to pressure Kim Jong Un.

UN Requests Access to Xiaobo

The United Nations is concerned about the deterioration in the health
of an imprisoned Nobel prize-winning dissident Liu Xiaobo.

He was jailed for 11 years for advocating democracy in China and has
been under house arrest with his wife for 7 years.

Partial Syria ceasefire agreement - US, Russia, Jordan

The U.S. says it was able to craft a cease-fire and de-escalation agreement for southwest Syria with Russia and Jordan.

The deal is set to go into effect within 48 hours, while the main focus of the fighting is around Raqqa.

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson says the primary focus is securing Jordan's border and it's a well-defined agreement.

Goal to move US Russia relations forward

U.S. President Donald Trump reportedly pressed Russian President Vladimir Putin about interference in the 2016 American elections.

UNESCO declares Hebron Palestinian site, Israel protests

The United Nations' cultural agency UNESCO has designated part of Hebron, in the occupied West Bank, as a Palestinian heritage site.

Israel has condemned the decision and further cut its funding to the United Nations.

US seek North Korea-linked funds from eight major banks


U.S. authorities are trying to seize more than seven million US dollars linked to North Korea from eight international banks, according to federal court documents. 


The US Department of Justice believe entities associated wtih North Korea had circumvented sanctions using accounts in these banks. 


There is no indication the banks had knowingly violated sanctions.

Mexico: prison riot leaves at least 28 dead


At least 28 inmates have died after fighting erupted in a maximum security prison in Mexico's southern state of Guerrero. 

According to state authorities, four of the victims were decapitated, with others stabbed and beaten to death.
