Trump: healthcare bill is "mean" needs to be more "kind"

President Donald Trump has told Republican senators the House-passed health care reform bill he celebrated earlier this year is "mean".

In stark contrast to his previous public position he called on them to devise a more "kind" bill.

According to media reports, US President Donald Trump is giving Defence Secretary James Mattis the authority to decide troop numbers in Afghanistan.

Around 9000 US troops are currently stationed in the country.

One person in custody after shooting at Congressional baseball practice

One person is in custody after opening fire at a baseball practice for the annual Congressional bipartisan baseball game.

Five have been transported to hospital, including Republican Majority Whip Steve Scalise.

Five shot at Congressional baseball practice

US Capitol police and Alexandria city police are confirmed five were shot during baseball practice for the annual bipartisan Congressional game.

This includes one of the members of the Repubican leadership, Representative Steve Scalise, two staffers and two Capitol Police.

Confiming the injured had been transported to hospital, Chief Matthew Vedosa of the US Capitol Police says there's still a lot they don't know.

London's Mayor promises to fully investigate deadly apartment block fire

Firefighters are searching a 24 storey tower block apartment in west London while also tackling the blaze that engulfed the building killing at least six residents. 

  A fire broke out on the second floor in the early hours of the morning before spreading rapidly to most of the building. 

Over sixty people have been treated in hospital following the incident. 

After touring the scene, London's Mayor Sadiq Khan  warned authorities believe the death toll will rise.

Firemen search London apartment block while fire continues

Firefighters continue to battle a blaze at a 24 story London apartment block, while other officers are searching the building amid reports a large number of people are unaccounted for. 

The fire service has confirmed there have been a number of fatalities following the fire which began on the second floor and engulfed the entire block.   Some nearby residents have been evacuated as a precaution amid concern the building could collapse. 

More than fifty people have been taken to hospital for treatment. 

London Fire Service Commissioner Dany Cotton says the block has been deemed safe for now.

Eyewitnesses of London Tower Block Fire


There have been several fatalities after a huge fire ripped through a fire block in London.


200 firefighters have been working to tackle the blaze in a high-rise building in the West of the capital.


London's Fire Commissioner has described the incident as 'unprecedented' after the fire spread throughout the entire building - which is over 20 floors high.


Questions are being raised about what started the blaze and the safety of the tower block, which was managed by an organisation on behalf of Kengington and Chelsea council.

Human Rights Watch says workers exploited on Russian World Cup 2018 stadiums

Fire still burning in large London apartment block amid confirmation of fatalities

The head of London Fire Brigade has confirmed that there have been a "number of fatalities" following a massive fire in a 24 storey apartment block in west London. 

Commissioner Dany Cotton said she could not comment on the number of dead due to the large and complex nature of the block which was home to 120 homes.   

30 people have been taken to hospitals and firefighters remain on the scene trying to douse the flames. 

Residents had voiced concerns about fire risks for the block in the past.

Germany presses Turkey to release imprisoned journalist
