Firemen search London apartment block while fire continues
Firefighters continue to battle a blaze at a 24 story London apartment block, while other officers are searching the building amid reports a large number of people are unaccounted for.
The fire service has confirmed there have been a number of fatalities following the fire which began on the second floor and engulfed the entire block. Some nearby residents have been evacuated as a precaution amid concern the building could collapse.
More than fifty people have been taken to hospital for treatment.
London Fire Service Commissioner Dany Cotton says the block has been deemed safe for now.

Several people have died in a huge fire that engulfed a London apartment block in the west of the city.
The fire service have confirmed a "number of fatalities" however it's not clear how many people are unaccounted for. Firemen are currently searching the building for any survivors even as flames can be seen coming from the block.
The blaze began on the second floor of the 24 storey block just after one o'clock in the morning local time. Eyewitnesses saw people trapped in their homes calling for help.
Paul Woodrow of the London Ambulance service said their priority was to get those who need it medical care.

Eyewitnesses of London Tower Block Fire
There have been several fatalities after a huge fire ripped through a fire block in London.
200 firefighters have been working to tackle the blaze in a high-rise building in the West of the capital.
London's Fire Commissioner has described the incident as 'unprecedented' after the fire spread throughout the entire building - which is over 20 floors high.
Questions are being raised about what started the blaze and the safety of the tower block, which was managed by an organisation on behalf of Kengington and Chelsea council.

The head of London Fire Brigade has confirmed that there have been a "number of fatalities" following a massive fire in a 24 storey apartment block in west London.
Commissioner Dany Cotton said she could not comment on the number of dead due to the large and complex nature of the block which was home to 120 homes.
30 people have been taken to hospitals and firefighters remain on the scene trying to douse the flames.
Residents had voiced concerns about fire risks for the block in the past.
