US President and Israeli PM double up on tough Iran stance in Jerusalem


US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took a combined tough stance on Iran as they committed to finding peace in the Middle East at a press conference on Monday.

President Trump has been a harsh critic of Iran since his early days as a candidate...while Israel views the country as a deadly threat.

The United States and Turkey are at loggerheads over the beating of protesters at the hands of Turkish security personnel, in the streets of Washington DC last week.

Speaking to reporters at a press conference in Jerusalem, President Trump labelled Iran a threat to regional peace as he laid out priorities for the US-Israel partnership:

US reportedly to extend protected status for Haitians

The US government is expected to extend Temporary Protected Status for Haitian immigrants by six months.

Trump officials had been reviewing the program put in place by the Obama administration following the 2010 earthquake in the country.

Several lawmakers and immigrant advocacy groups had called for an 18-month extension of the status which protects roughly 50,000 Haitians from deportation.

Brazilian police sweep through Sao Paulo's "Crackland"

Police officers in Brazil have arrested nearly 40 people for drug trafficking in Sao Paulo's drug ridden area known as "Crackland". 

The police opperation was met with anger from local drug users who in response vandalized cars and looted shops.

Trump vows that Iran will never get nuclear weapons

During a visit to Israel, American President Donald Trump has vowed to prevent Iran from ever getting nuclear weapons.

At a photo opportunity before meeting Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Mr Trump was critical of the Iran nuclear deal, saying it had emboldened Iran. He said Tehran was involved in conflicts across the Middle East, including Yemen, Syria and Iraq, and said the Obama administration should never have signed the deal that it did.

The other major issue on Mr Trump's visit is Middle East peace, saying it might not be as hard as people think to get an agreement between Israel and the Palestinians. He will meet Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas on Tuesday.

Iran accuses US of spreading "Iranophobia"

Iran has accused the United States of selling weapons to "dangerous terrorists" in the Middle East and of spreading "Iranophobia" aimed at encouraging Arab states to buy arms.

The accusations were reported on Iranian state television the day after U.S. President Donald Trump left Tehran's arch-foe Saudi Arabia where arms deals worth almost $110 billion were signed.

Rolf Harris attends trial in person


Disgraced television personality Rolf Harris has appeared in court in person for the first time since his trial began on May 15th.


Mr Harris is currently serving a sentence for other officers but was released on bail for the trial in which he is accused of four historic counts of indecent assault.

TRUMP TOUCHES DOWN IN TEL AVIV

US President Donald Trump has arrived in Israel for talks on regional security and peace.

He's arrived in Tel Aviv from Saudi Arabia where he delivered a speech imploring Muslim and Arab leaders to help combat radicalisation.

The President's first foreign trip since taking office comes with his adminstration in Washington under increasing pressure over the investigation into alleged links between his campaign and Russia.

He'll hold talks with Israeli and Palestinian leaders before heading to Europe.
