Wikileaks Founder Julian Assange Responds to End of Investigation Against Him

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has spoken for the first time since Sweden dropped its investigation into allegations of rape dating back to 2010.

Sweden's Director of Public Prosecution said they had exhausted all options to take the case against Mr Assange forward and had therefore decided to remove the European Arrest Warrant against him.

Mr Assange has always maintained his innocence and his lawyer called the move a 'total victory'

However British police still say that if Mr Assange were to leave the embassy, where he has sought refuge since 2012, they would  be obliged to arrest him for skipping bail.

The UK has not commented on whether it has so far received an extradition request from the US for Mr Assange, where he is wanted for publishing confidential US military files.

Speaking on the balcony of London's Ecuadorian embassy, Julian Assange described the past seven years as a terrible injustice.
