Honduras: authorities transfer thousands of inmates to more secure facilities

Government authorities in Honduras have transferred more than 700 gang members to a new maximum security prison. 

The move is part of an initiative aimed at relocating some 2,000 inmates considered to be highly dangerous. Authorities say they want to prevent these jails from serving as comand centers for criminal activity.

Lawmakers want memos, documents from FBI, White House

The chairs of the Senate Intelligence Committee are calling upon James Comey and separately, the White House, to turn over all documents tied to any conversations and meetings between the now fired FBI director and U.S. President Donald Trump.

This follows a similar request from the House side of the U.S. Congress, and reports from the New York Times that James Comey wrote detailed memos about all meetings, while President Trump has suggested he recorded meetings.

U.S. Senator Mark Warner is the top Democrat on the panel and he wants answers.

In a televised comments, amid a deepening scandal involving Russia and his alleged attempts to stifle an FBI investigation, the president insisted he would carry on representing the interests of the American people.

Under intense political fire, Trump defends himself

Rolf Harris nicknamed 'Groper Rolf'

Former television personality Rolf Harris, who was jailed in 2014 on historic charges of indecent assault,  is facing fresh allegations in a new trial this week.


During the third day of hearings, he was accused of assaulting a 16 year old girl in the 1970s.

Ford To Cut Nearly 10% of N. America and Asia Workforce

Ford has announced that it will be cutting nearly 10 per cent of its workforce in its North America and Asia Pacific divisions.

The carmaker said the cuts would come through voluntary buyouts and early retirement packages -  it's been under pressure to improve its profits amid a sinking stock price.

Republican lawmaker demands Comey memos

The chair of the U.S. House of Representatives Government Oversight Committee is demanding all memos from James Comey about meetings with U.S. Presisdent Donald Trump.

Chelsea Manning released from prison

US soldier Chelsea Manning has been released from prison after serving seven years for leaking hundred of thousands of military files to wikileaks in the largest breach of classified information in US history.

Most of what remained of her 35-year sentence was commuted by then-US President Barack Obama in January.

Indian school girls on a hunger strike to protest sexual harassment

80 girls from the north Indian state of Haryana have quit school and have been on a week long hunger strike.

The girls claim they are forced to endure sexual harassment everyday because they have to walk 3 kilometers to get to their school in a neighbouring village.

Just last year, a girl was raped on her way to school in the same district.
