BAILED OUT LLOYDS BACK IN PRIVATE HANDS

The UK government has returned Lloyds Banking Group to the private sector, eight years after a £20bn (($25.8bn / 23.2bn euro) bailout during the global financial crisis.

The government says in total it's received over £21.2bn for its stake in the bank - but critics say in reality it's lost money.

Indian school girls on a hunger strike to protest sexual harassment

80 girls from the north Indian state of Haryana have quit school and have been on a week long hunger strike.

The girls claim they are forced to endure sexual harassment everyday because they have to walk 3 kilometers to get to their school in a neighbouring village.

Just last year, a girl was raped on her way to school in the same district.

Backpacker attacker jailed for 22 years in Adelaide

A man has been described by an Australian judge as utterly depraved and lacking any moral compass, as he was jailed for 22 years for his primitive attacks on two young backpackers at a remote beach in South Australia.

Italian PM to meet with Putin in Sochi

Russian President Vladimir Putin is due to meet with Prime Minister of Italy, Paolo Gentiloni, in Sochi on Wednesday.  The two leaders will discuss bilateral relations and international issues, such as Syria and the Middle East.  The visit comes ahead of the G7 leaders summit which will take place in Italy later in May. India warns Russia over civil nuclear energy development

India has reportedly warned Russia that it will stop cooperation with its foreign partners on the development of its civil nuclear programme if it can't become a member of the Nuclear Suppliers Group soon.

This comes ahead of a meeting between Indian prime minister Narendra Modi and Russian president Vladimir Putin expected to take place in June.

10-year-old Indian girl, raped by her step-father, allowed to abort her foetus

A minor girl who became pregnant after being allegedly repeatedly raped by her step-father has been allowed to abort her foetus. 

Doctors in the Indian city of Rohtak said that despite there being risks to her health, they have agreed to conduction the abortion on humanitarian grounds.

In India, it is illegal to abort if the foetus is older than 20 weeks, unless there is danger to the mother's life.

Arrests, 9 injured in clashes outside Turkish Embassy in DC

Nine people were hurt and two arrested following an incident outside the Turkish Ambassador residence in Washington on Tuesday.

Shadow Brokers Group Threatens to Sell Tech Secrets

A group that has taken credit for leaking the NSA cyber spying tools used in the WannaCry ransomware attack is  threatening to sell new tech secrets. The Shadow Brokers group says it will begin releasing software for anyone willing to pay beginning in June.

U.S. Representative Adam Schiff, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, is echoing a call by Senator Lindsey Graham to return to Capitol Hill to testify.

Bombshell: NYTimes claims Trump urged FBI Director to shut down Russia probe

The New York Times is reporting that President Trump asked then FBI Director James Comey to terminate an investigation into links between the Russians and top Trump aides.


Mr. Comey reportedly kept a memo detailing his February conversation with the President….a revelation that is creating a fresh crisis for the White House.

Lawmakers want proof on Russia meetings

Members of the Senate Intelligence Comittee want all documents and appropriate records of what happened and what was discussed in the Oval Office between U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian Minister Sergey Lavrov.

U.S. President Donald Trump has posted on social media that he was within his rights to discuss intelligence with the Russians, but the Israelis, as it is now confirmed was the source, did not give permission.

UN Security Council Meets on North Korea
