VP Pence - right decision to fire Comey

U.S. Vice President Mike Pence is repeating a single message - that it was the right decision at the right time to fire FBI director James Comey.

The official reason why James Comey was fired was his mishandling of the investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of a private email server, but lawmakers and others note that President Trump himself cited questions of investigation into his associates and ties to Russia.

Democrats in Washington are renewing their call for a Special Prosecutor to investigate alleged collusion between the Trump campaign team and the Russians during last year's Presidential election.

They say President Trump's decision to fire FBI Director James Comey is an attempt to obstruct justice and detail the bureau's investigation into Russia's attempt to influence the outcome of the Presidential race.

White House Looks for New FBI Director

The White House is beginning the process of finding a new FBI Director, after the dramatic and unexpected sacking of James Comey by President Trump.

The reason given for the action was that James Comey had mishandled the investigation into Hillary Clinton's use of her person email server.

But Democrats and some Republicans say they are troubled that the person in charge of the investigation into Russian collusion with the Trump campaign has been targeted.

Democrats are now calling for the appointment of a special prosecutor to maintain impartiality.
