US To Tighten North Korea Sanctions

The Trump administration has said it's aiming to push North Korea into dismantling its nuclear and missile programmes through tougher international sanctions, and diplomatic pressure.

A statement from the Secretaries of State and Defence, alongside the Director of National Intelligence, described North Korea as 'an urgent national security threat and top foreign policy priority'.

It comes after all 100 US Senators received a briefing on the administration's strategy towards Pyongyang at the White House. One of them, Democrat Chris Coons of Delaware, said he's glad the Trump administration is watching the situation closely but he doesn't think the use of force is imminent:

Australian research says tobacco plain packaging a success

In Australia, the Cochrane review into tobacco plain packaging has been released.
This follows the introduction of the Tobacco Plain Packaging Act 2011 introduced by Julia Gillard's government, and appears to back the original theory that tobacco plain packaging may reduce the prevalence of smoking.
The review indicates the conclusions are supported by survey data including two national population studies that show a marked reduction in adult smoking prevalence since the law was passed.
Australia's Cancer Council CEO Todd Harper has welcomed the review.
