US Treasury Secretary: Trump not trying to talk down US dollar


US Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin says Donald Trump is not trying to talk down the value of the dollar.

In an interview last week...the US President told the Wall Street Journal that the dollar is "getting too strong."

Britain set for general election on June 8th after MP vote

British MPs have overwhelmingly passed a motion authorizing an early general election, to be held on June 8th.     

Prime Minister Theresa May won a majority for a snap election by a vote margin of 522 to 13, after winning support for the poll from major opposition parties.

Conicted murderer, ex-NFL star commits suicide in prison


Former NFL star Aaron Hernandez has committed suicide in prison.

US fighter jets have intercepted two Russian bombers flying close to Alaska.

The US military say it's the first time since President Trump took office that Moscow has sent warplanes so close to the United States.

Republicans Avoid Special Election Defeat

The Republican party in the US has narrowly managed to avoid defeat in a special election in the state of Georgia, a vote seen as a test of President Trump's popularity.

Democrat Jon Ossoff, who raised over 8 million dollars for the campaign, fell short of the 50% needed to win outright, meaning he'll now face a run-off in June.

British MPs debate surprise election

British MPs are voting on a motion authorizing an early general election, to be held on June 8th

Prime minister Theresa May surprised her political party and opponents alike with her request to hold an election 3 years early, a decision she made despite repeated assurances in the past that she would not.

The opposition Labour and the Liberal Democrat parties have pledged to back the early election, so Mrs May is likely to get the two thirds of lawmakers needed to trigger the ballot. 

Mrs May began Prime Minister's Question Time by telling MPs the Conservatives will take their vision for the future to the country.

British MPs will vote today on a motion to allow a snap general election to be held on June 8th. 

Prime Minister Theresa May made the surprise announcement that she was seeking an early ballot Tuesday morning.  However two-thirds of  lawmakers first need to pass a motion resetting the clock on legislation which says an election should only be held every five years. 

The opposition Labour party have said they will support the measure so it is expected to pass.

Gunman nicknamed ‘Black Jesus’ accused of killing three white men in California

Law enforcement in Fresno California say a man nicknamed 'Black Jesus'
killed three white men before being apprehended by police.

The suspect Kori Ali Muhammad is believed to have shouted "Allah
Akhbah"- which means God is great in Arabic- whilst being taken into
custody.

The man is also suspected of killing a security guard last week.

Man gets 25 year sentence for murder of six-year-old

A man has been handed a 25 year sentence for the murder of
six-year-old Etan Patz who went missing in 1979.

Patz became one of the first missing children to appear on the side of
a milk carton and the case helped raise awareness about child
abductions.

Pedro Hernandez's lawyer says he sympathized with the Patz family but
maintains his innocence.

Zuckerberg Speaks about "Facebook Killing"

Facebook's CEO and founder Mark Zuckerberg says his company is working to prevent tragedies like the killing of a man in Ohio,  that was filmed and posted onto Facebook this week. USS Carl Vinson was not - in fact - heading to Korea

It's emerged that an aircraft carrier that US President Donald Trump claimed was being sent to the Korean Peninsula was - in fact - sailing in the opposite direction.


The USS Carl Vinson now won't arrive in the waters off North and South Korea for another week.
