United Airlines orders investigation into passenger dragging incident

America's United Airlines is desperately trying to salvage its reputation after a incident in which an elderly doctor was physically dragged off a plane that had been overbooked.

The airline's chief executive has ordered an investigation, but as our American correspondent John Clarke reports, it could be a public relations and financial disaster for the airline.

Syrian strike retaliation for use of nerve gas - Pentagon

Amid plunging share price, United Airlines CEO apologizes for passenger's forced removal from flight

The head of United Airlines is apologizing for the treatment of a passenger who was forcibly removed from one of the carrier's flights on Sunday.


Oscar Munoz has issued a statement saying "no one should ever be mistreated" the way Dr. David Dao was assaulted at Chicago airport….in an incident captured on video that went viral.

Explosions hit German football club's bus

A Champion's League football match in Germany has been postponed after three explosions took place next to the Borussia Dortmund team bus.

One player was lightly injured in the blasts, which took place as the bus travelled to the team hotel to the stadium.

Explosion hits Borussia Dortmund team bus injuring one player

An explosion has struck a bus carrying German soccer team Borussia Dortmund to a Champions League quarter final match.


One player was injured and taken to hospital….his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.


The team's fixture against Monaco has been postponed.


Deutsche Welle reporter Michael DaSilva is in the stadium in Dortmund and says as many as three explosions may have occurred.

US hoping to deter North Korea after threats

The Trump administration is deploying the U.S.S. Carl Vinson as part of a strategy to deter North Korea from following through on it's threats.

While the regime has promised it can respond to any military threat, North Korea media went further, promising, "with our nuclear sight focused on the U.S. invasionary bases not only in South Korea and the Pacific operation theater but also in the U.S. mainland,"

In latest gaffe, Trump spokesman forgets Hitler gassed people

In the US, President Trump's press secretary has caused uproar at the White House by claiming that Adolf Hitler didn't use chemical weapons during World War Two.


Sean Spicer was attempting to describe the threat Syrian President Bashar al Assad poses to his own people, but in the process ignored the millions of people gassed to death by the Nazis.

White House accuses Russia of cover-up over Syria chemical strike

The White House is accusing Russia of taking steps to cover up the Syrian government's use of chemical weapons last week.


The move comes as Secretary of State Rex Tillerson arrived in Moscow for talks with the Russians……and President Vladimir Putin warned the US may be preparing to launch fresh air strikes on the suburbs of Damascus.

Executions drop by 35 percent worldwide

The number of executions carried out by governments worldwide fell my 35 percent last year.

More than a thousand people were put to death in 2016, according to human rights organization Amnesty International.

Putin claims US planning fresh attacks on Syria

Russian President Vladimir Putin says the US is planning fresh air strikes on Syria, and plans to fake evidence to accuse the Syrian government of launching chemical attacks.


It's the clearest indication yet that the Russian President is doubling-down on his backing of Syrian President Bashar al Assad, and it came just hours before US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson arrived in Moscow for talks.


Mr. Putin was speaking after a meeting in Moscow with the Italian President.

Accused in Stockholm "admits terrorist act"

A lawyer for a man accused of carrying out a truck attack in the Swedish capital Stockholm says he's admitted committing a terrorist crime.


Rakhmat Akilov from Uzbekistan is accused of killing 4 people and injuring 15 others when he ran them down in a truck.


He made his first court appearance in Stockholm, where prosecutor Mats Ljungqvist says the search continues for possible accomplices.

United Airlines punished by investors after viral video

Shares in United Airlines have fallen by more than 3 per cent, after video showed a passenger being dragged of a plane by police in Chicago.


The airline has called the passenger "belligerent", but several other travelers on board the plane have defended him.

UN warns of mass deaths from starvation in South Sudan, Somalia, Nigeria & Yemen

G7 rejects UK Foreign Secretary calls for more Russian sanctions

G7 ministers who had been meeting in Italy to discuss Syria have rejected calls by the British Foreign Minister to impose new sanctions on Russia and Syria.


It comes after the Syrian government launched a suspected chemical weapons attack on a rebel-held town, which the US met with a military response, targeting a Syrian airbase.

Middle East Allies Join G7 Talks to Find Syria Stance
