Iran, Russia pledge to “respond with force” if Syria attacked

Russia and Iran accused the United States of crossing "red lines" in Syria following last week's US strike on a Syrian airbase. US said it was a response to the Syrian government's chemical attack on a town in Idlib province earlier that week. The statement comes days before US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson's visit to Moscow. Our correspondent Daria Bondarchuk reports from the Russian capital.

G7 Foreign Ministers Arrive in Italy to Discuss Syria

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and foreign ministers from the other G-7 countries are meeting in Italy where they'll be discussing the crisis in Syria.

The UK is expected to push for more sanctions against Russia, while the US is expected to be pressured to lay out a detailed Syria policy.

US condemns attacks in Egypt

U.S. President Donald Trump has posted on social media the the attacks in Egypt make him 'so sad'.

The US State Department has issued a more formal response condemning the attacks which killed at least 45 and injured dozens more.

Ousted US Deputy National Security Adviser "offered job" as US Ambassador to Singapore

There are reports that President Trump will nominate his Deputy National Security Adviser to be the next US Ambassador to Singapore.

US military investigates Russian involvement in chemical attack

The US military is trying to determine whether Russia played any role in the suspected chemical weapons attack in Syria earlier this week.

On Thursday the US responded to the attack by firing 59 missiles at a Syrian airbase.

Lawmakers urge consultation on Syria

A growing number of American lawmakers want the Trump administration to consult with the U.S. Congress on his Syria policy and the possibility of an authorization for the use of force against the regime of Bashar al-Assad.

A bipartisan group of senators is trying to move the process forward, introducing the Syrian War Crimes Accountability Act, in hopes of creating some additional tools to hold President Assad responsible.

"prepared to do more" following its missile strike on a Syrian
airbase.

Nikki Haley was speaking at an emergency session of the UN Security
Council, at which Russia strongly condemned the US attack as an
"illegitimate" "act of aggression".

The US received support from several Council members including the UK,
France, Japan and Italy.

But Bolivia said America's unilateral action against Syria violated
international law and the UN Charter.
