Barclay's CEO investigated over whistleblowing inquiry

The CEO of lender Barclays is being investigated, after it was revealed he tried to find out who wrote a whistleblowing letter to the bank.


Jes Staley will either lose his annual bonus or have his pay docked in what he says was a mistake.

Iran, Russia pledge to “respond with force” if Syria attacked

Russia and Iran accused the United States of crossing "red lines" in Syria following last week's US strike on a Syrian airbase. US said it was a response to the Syrian government's chemical attack on a town in Idlib province earlier that week. G7 Foreign Ministers Arrive in Italy to Discuss Syria

US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and foreign ministers from the other G-7 countries are meeting in Italy where they'll be discussing the crisis in Syria.

Neil Gorsuch to be sworn in to Supreme Court

Donald Trump will swear in Judge Neil Gorsuch to the US Supreme Court on Monday, ending a vacancy on the bench that's lasted more than a year.

US condemns attacks in Egypt

U.S. President Donald Trump has posted on social media the the attacks in Egypt make him 'so sad'.

The US State Department has issued a more formal response condemning the attacks which killed at least 45 and injured dozens more.

Ousted US Deputy National Security Adviser "offered job" as US Ambassador to Singapore

There are reports that President Trump will nominate his Deputy National Security Adviser to be the next US Ambassador to Singapore.

Russia charges 8 suspects linked to St.Petersburg bombing

Russian authorities charged eight people with terrorism offences in connection to Monday's St. Petersburg metro bomb attack. The device was set off by a suicide bomber, 22-year old Kyrgyz-born Russian citizen Akbarjon Djalilov. 14 people were killed and over 60 more injured as the result of the blast. US military investigates Russian involvement in chemical attack

The US military is trying to determine whether Russia played any role in the suspected chemical weapons attack in Syria earlier this week.

On Thursday the US responded to the attack by firing 59 missiles at a Syrian airbase.

Lawmakers urge consultation on Syria

A growing number of American lawmakers want the Trump administration to consult with the U.S. Congress on his Syria policy and the possibility of an authorization for the use of force against the regime of Bashar al-Assad.

A bipartisan group of senators is trying to move the process forward, introducing the Syrian War Crimes Accountability Act, in hopes of creating some additional tools to hold President Assad responsible.

Uruguay will be come the first country to sell marijuana in pharmacies

Uruguay will become the first country in the world to legally sell cannabis over the counter in pharmacies. 

As of July, pharmacies all over the South American country will sell marijuana to those who have signed up to a national registry.

US “prepared to do more” in Syria following air strikes

The US ambassador to the United Nations has warned America is
"prepared to do more" following its missile strike on a Syrian
airbase.

Nikki Haley was speaking at an emergency session of the UN Security
Council, at which Russia strongly condemned the US attack as an
"illegitimate" "act of aggression".

The US received support from several Council members including the UK,
France, Japan and Italy.

But Bolivia said America's unilateral action against Syria violated
international law and the UN Charter.

No comment on Syria; Pres. Trump praises progress with China

U.S. President Donald Trump did not comment further on the airstrikes in Syria, instead focusing on the potential for progress with China during a photo opportunity with President Xi Jinping.

The only hint of the depth of their conversations was the use of the phrase "bad problems will go away" at a time when North Korea, the South China Sea and the global economy are all on the table.
