Federal Judge extends travel ban suspension indefinitely

A federal judge in Hawaii has indefinitely extended an order that
blocks President Trump from implementing his amended travel ban.

Trump's proposal would temporarily bar people from six predominantly
Muslim nations from entering the United States.

The President's executive order triggered protests across the country
but the public remain divided on the issue.

United States Governor Chris Christie’s aides get jail time

Two former associates of US Governor Chris Christie have been jailed
for their part in a scandal that has been dubbed "Bridgegate."

The two were sentenced for played a part in closing several lanes on a
busy New York bridge back in 2013 to spite a local mayor who wouldn't
endorse Christie.

US State Dept. employee charged with inappropriate contacts

A long-time U.S. State Department employee is facing charges of obstruction of justice and making false statements, all in pursuit of hiding her inappropriate contacts with foreign agents.

She had a top secret clearance and gave information to the Chinese.

US Military: ‘Difficult’ To Avoid Mosul Casualties

A senior general in the US has said it will be difficult to maintain what he called 'extraordinarily high standards' to avoid civilian casualties in the Iraqi city of Mosul, which American-backed forces are fighting to retake from the so-called Islamic State group.

General Joseph Votel was speaking as the military begins a formal investigation into an explosion there that's believed to have killed scores of civilians.

Samsung Launches New Galaxy S8 Smartphone

Samsung has unveiled its latest smartphone, the Galaxy S8, its first new premium phone since the exploding batteries in the Note 7, which had to be scrapped just two months after its launch.

That scandal saw Apple over take the South Korean giant as the world's top smartphone maker in the fourth quarter of last year.

The new S8, which goes on sale on 21st April, boasts some of the largest wrap-around screens ever, as well as new facial recognition software and an artificial intelligence service, Bixby.

Justin Denison, the Senior Vice President for Product Strategy at Samsung, said the company's paid extra attention to the batteries in its new product:

The chairs of the U.S. Senate's Intelligence Committee are promising to get to the bottom of what they describe as the biggest Congressional investigation in 20 years.

Senator Mark Warner and Richard Burr have invited 20 people for questioning into the Russian meddling in American politics, with initial public hearings scheduled (Thursday at 10am and 2pm).

Senator Mark Warner, a Democrat from Virginia, promised the panel will get to the bottom of the concerns.

Let the Russia investigations go forward - White House

The White House is expressing confidence that the chair of the House Intelligence Committee should continue his investigation into the Russian meddling in American politics.

Republican Representative Devin Nunes has been accused of providing cover for the White House by cancelling a hearing with acting U.S. Attorney General Sally Yates and by failing to share information with the Democrats on briefings he claimed he had at the White House.

Bodies of UN Investigators Found in Congo

The United Nations has launched an investigation after the bodies of two human rights investigators and their interpreter were found  in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

A US and a Swedish citizen had been travelling with a group of Congolese support staff to gather evidence of abuses.

The president of the European Council Donald Tusk has confirmed he has received the letter from the UK formally starting brexit.

It comes 9 months after the UK voted 52 per cent to 48 per cent to leave the European Union in a referendum.

The EU and the UK now have two years to negotiate a deal for the exit.

The European Council will send out it's guidelines outlining the EU's priorities to the remaining 27 member states within the next 48 hours.
