Polls Open in Crucial Dutch Election

The polls are now open in the Netherlands, and the results will be a key test for the strength of populism in Europe. 

Far-right candidate Gert Wilders (pronounced Vilders) is hoping to win the most seats, but polling shows his support has been slipping.

Australian Greens suggest a four day working week

Trump Paid 25% Tax Rate in 2005, Leaked Document Shows

US President Donald Trump paid 38 million dollars in taxes, on more than 150 million dollars in income, in 2005.

Those are the figures from a partial tax return leaked to an investigative journalist and published on the TV network MSNBC.

The White House says publishing the documents is illegal, but as Lorna Shaddick reports, they don't reveal much about Mr. Trump's finances.

2005 Trump Tax Return Partially Leaked

An investigative journalist in the US has said he's obtained an insight into one of Donald Trump's tax returns from 2005.

 David Cay Johnston told Rachel Maddow on MSNBC that President Trump paid 38 million dollars in federal income tax that year, an effective rate of around 25%, and reported an 105 million dollar write down.

 Effectively, he said, by claiming losses from previous years, Mr Trump was able to save tens of millions in taxes he could otherwise have owed.

accountable for sharing nude photos of their female colleagues online.

Winter Storm Stella Batters Northeastern US

A huge winter storm has been sweeping across the north east of the US, with winds of up to 60 miles an hour in some places, and states of emergency declared in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Virginia.

Around 7000 flights have been cancelled, schools are closed in many districts, and at least three people are known to have died - including a 16 year old girl in New Hampshire whose car skidded into a tree.

New York Mayor Bill de Blasio says the final snow totals for the Big Apple will be as high as 8 inches, less than the 12-18 inches predicted.

Pres. Trump will be vindicated on surveillance claims

The White House is now saying U.S. President Donald Trump will be vindicated on his allegations he was surveilled during the 2016 election.

However, the Trump Administration continues to not provide any evidence to back up the president's claims, only saying that the Congressional intelligence committees are working on a report.

The president's posts on social media were further complicated by comments by his Senior Adviser Kellyanne Conway that maybe microwave ovens could film Americans.
