Trump promotes health care reform

U.S. President Donald Trump is promoting the plans to reform how Americans receive health care insurance.

Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Paul Ryan is moving to repeal the legislation nicknamed Obamacare within the next few weeks, but he's meeting with opposition on both sides that the replacement bill just will not work.

In a contradictory statement ahead of meetings with people struggling to pay health care costs, U.S. President Donald Trump endorsed the plan to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.

2016 marked deadliest year for Syrian children

The United Nations children's organization UNICEF has announced that
2016 was the deadliest year for Syrian children in the country's civil
war.

Over 650 children were killed in the conflict last year marking a 20%
rise from the year before.

Rep. King tries to walk back endorsement of Geert Wilders

Representative Steve King, a Republican from Iowa, is trying to clarify and walk back his tweet, which appears to endorse nationalist Dutch politician Geert Wilders.

In the tweet, Congressman King writes that, quote, Wilders understands that culture and demographics are our destiny. We can't restore our civilization with somebody else's babies.

BREXIT BILL ENTERS FINAL STAGES

A so-called Brexit Bill could become law later (Monday) allowing UK Prime Minister Theresa May to trigger negotiations on Britain's exit from the EU.

The legislation is being debated again by MPs, and it's thought they will send it back to the House of Lords without amendments for final approval.

If that happens, Theresa May will be free to trigger Article 50, kicking off the formal Brexit process.

Some MPs and peers want guarantees on the rights of EU citizens and a Parliamentary vote on any deal with Brussels.

Trump Aides Attack Congressional Budget Office

Aides to US President Donald Trump have been attacking the non-partisan agency that's set to analyse the cost of a new healthcare bill, aimed at replacing President Obama's Affordable Care Act.

The Congressional Budget Office always gives an official estimate of the costs and budget impact of all proposed legislation, and it's expected to issue a report on the new Republican healthcare bill as soon as Monday.

The White House budget director Mick Mulvaney said on ABC's 'This Week' that the CBO has been focusing on the wrong metrics with its estimates on the number of people who are insured.
