France's Republican Party Unites Around Embattled Fillon

Their candidate is seen as having little to no shot of winning, but French Republicans say they're now united behind Francois Fillon.

Monday night France's Republican leadership met for crisis talks, and decided the best path forward is relaunching Fillon's troubled campaign.

Republican's release draft replacement for Obamacare

House Republicans have released their draft proposal to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, known as Obamacare.  

The plan, which has already received mixed mixed reaction, would remove subsidies and instead introduce tax credits.

US Police Investigate String of Sikh 'Hate Crimes'

Police near Seattle, Washington are hunting for an attacker who shot a
Sikh man outside his home and told him to "go back to his own
country." The incident follows a deadly gun attack on two Indian

FBI director rejects Trump wiretap claims

US media is reporting that FBI director James Comey has rejected Donald Trump's claim that his predecessor, Barack Obama, ordered a wiretap of his phone before he was elected US president.

President Trump made the allegations in a series of tweets early on Saturday morning but has offered no evidence to support them.

Supreme Court drops major transgender bathroom case

The US Supreme court will no longer hear a landmark case on transgender bathroom rights.

Last month the Trump administration changed the federal government's position on transgender bathroom use in public schools.

Gavin Grimm, who was born female but identifies as male, had sued his school board over their bathroom policy. His case will now be heard by a lower court.

Top Trump administration officials say that national security concerns are what is underpinning the newly signed revised travel ban.

The new executive order has been narrowed to focus on six countries and no longer applies to persons with valid travel documents.

Trump signs new executive order in bid to get it past the courts

U.S. President Donald Trump has signed a new executive order targeting citizens from six countries in the Middle East and North Africa, in a bid keep potential terrorists out.

He signed the order away from the cameras, before it was co-presented by the heads of departments of State, Homeland Security and the Justice Department.

The new order replaces his initial text, which caused chaos at airports across the country, and got stuck in the courts.

Trump signs revised travel ban, hopes to overcome courts' objections

US President Donald Trump has signed a revised version of his travel ban, in a bid to protect it from further legal challenges.


The President is restricting immigration into the United States from 6 countries - but not Iraq, which was included in the original executive order.


He's also diluting several other provisions of the original measure.

Moscow welcomes EU clearance for Russian nuclear reactor project in Hungary

Moscow has welcomed the European Commission decision to clear Hungary to expand its Paks nuclear plant.  Russia's state atomic giant Roastom will build two new reactors. The EU approval removes the last big hurdle to an upgrade of a site that generates over half of Hungary's electricity output. It will be funded with a 10 billion euro loan from Russia, with Hungary providing the rest. Julia Lyubova reports from Moscow.
