US Attorney General overturns Obama administration move to reduce private prisons

The US Department of Justice has overturned an Obama administration
move to reduce the number of privately funded prisons in the US.

US Attorney General Jeff Sessions said that moving away from using
private prisons would interfere with the growing demand for jail
space.

Pres. Trump signs another executive order on regulations

U.S. President Donald Trump has signed an executive order, requiring government agencies to set up review committees to eliminate regulations.

During a speech to a gathering of conservatives, the American president promised that regulations are necessary, and should be strong to protect the environment and workers.

But he's also promised the business community to cut regulations.

Flanked by executives from a wide range of industries, President Trump insisted cutting regulations will boost the American economy.

United Nations criticize Israeli prison sentence

The United Nations' human rights office has described the 18 month
sentence handed to an Israeli soldier as excessively lenient.

Sergeant Elor Azaria was charged with shooting an incapacitated
Palestinian citizen in the head after the man carried out a knife
attack.

Pres. Trump endorses "America first" to conservatives

U.S. President Donald Trump rejected globalism and endorsed nationalism at CPAC - the conservative political action committee, the largest meeting of conservatives in the U.S.

The day before, his chief counselor Steve Bannon made it clear that economic nationalism is the policy of the Trump White House.

White House rejects allegations it ordered FBI to knock down Trump-Russia stories

The FBI rejected a White House request to publicly discredit media reports about alleged contacts between the Trump campaign and Russian officials during the election, according to US officials.

The White House said the request was only made after the FBI indicated it did not believe the reporting to be accurate.

Trump Calls For US To Expand Nuclear Arsenal Ahead of CPAC Speech

Iraqi Forces Capture Mosul Airport From Islamic State

US backed Iraqi security forces have re-captured Mosul airport from the so-called Islamic State group.

The troops are reported to have gained ground in outlying areas to the south of Iraq's second largest city, since launching a new phase of a four month long offensive to retake it from the militants.
