Security officer for Dutch far-right politician arrested for leaking whereabouts to a gang

A security official working for Dutch far-right leader Geert Wilders has been arrested over accusations he has been leaking the politicians whereabouts to a Moroccan gang.

Geert Wilders called Moroccans scum at a campaign rally last week as he bids to become Dutch prime minister.

Syria peace talks begin in Geneva

Germany deports more Afghans

Germany has flown about fifty failed Afghan asylum seekers to Kabul, in the third round of forced deportations to Afghanistan since late last year.

Netanyahu and Turnbull sign leaders agreements in Sydney

Australia and Israel are expected to co-operate more on technological innovation and make it easier for people to travel between both countries, under newly signed leaders' agreements.

Teen's Landmark Case Helps Discrimination Victims

A teenager from the USA has won a landmark court case after she was
told she couldn't bring her service dog to school. The supreme court
has ruled that Ehlena Fry, who has cerebral palsy, can now pursue a
lawsuit against her former school. The ruling could remove future
legal hurdles for victims of discrimination.

Trump Admin Withdraws Protection for Transgender Students

The Trump administration has withdrawn protections for transgender students that allowed them to use bathrooms of their gender identity.

Civil rights groups say they consider this an attack on  transgender children that denies them equal rights.

Handful of Protesters Arrested Protesting Dakota Access Oil Pipeline

Authorities have arrested a small group of activists protesting the Dakota Access Oil Pipeline after a deadline to leave the area. About 100 people voluntarily left the camp before the deadline.

As US Correspondent Rachel Silverman reports, at the peak of protests, the camp's population climbed to as many as 10 thousand people.

Talks to get underway between US-Mexican officials

Talks are getting underway in Mexico between US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, US Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly and members of Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto's administration.

The visit comes the day after the US Department of Homeland Security vowed to step up deportations of undocumented immigrants.

The meetings could be tense, with Mexico's foreign minister telling the press earlier Wednesday that his country does not have to accept provisions imposed by other countries, that are not in Mexico's interests.

Top US General warns more troops might be needed to defeat ISIS

More American troops might be sent to Syria to try to defeat the self-declared Islamic State group.

Muslim-Americans raise more than US$85K to help repair vandalized Jewish cemetery

Trump administration to lift transgender bathroom guidance

The Trump administration is planning to revoke federal guidelines telling public schools to let transgender students use bathrooms matching their chosen gender identity.

It would reverse President Obama's directive requiring public schools to grant access even if the student's chosen gender identity isn't the same as what's in their student record.

Water, life possible on newly discovered exoplanets

Researchers working with NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope have found three planets that are exactly the right size and position to support water, and perhaps even life.

In total, seven exoplanets orbit the star in the Trappist-1 system, some 40 light years from Earth.

NASA confirms 3 exoplanets in habitable zone

The scientists of the Spitzer Space Telescope project are confirming, they've found seven planets in the Trappist-1 system that are the right size to support life, and three of them are in the habitable zone.

Since 1995, thousands of exoplanets - planets orbiting other stars have been discovered - and its thought dozens are in the right spot to support life.

Trump: Federal budget is 'out of control'

US President Donald Trump says the federal budget is "out of control" and vowed to cut waste when he submits his spending plan to Congress.

An outline of the budget could be released as early as mid-March.

In a lunchtime meeting with staff on Wednesday, President Trump complained that the national debt had doubled over the last eight years.

He told reporters that there would be "no more wasted money".
