Street Parties planned in memory of MP Jo Cox

UK Street parties are being planned for June as part of an initiative to unite communities.


It's being launched in memory of MP Jo Cox, who was murdered outside her constituency last year a week before the UK voted to leave the EU, by a man who shouted 'Britain First' as he shot and stabbed the mother of two.

Netanyahu feels the love in Sydney

With a bribery investigation hanging over him at home and under attack from abroad over Israel's settlement expansion in the West Bank, Benjamin Netanyahu is in need of a mate, and certainly found one in Australia's Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, who welcomed the Israeli PM to Sydney full of praise for "Bibi" and Israel, particularly its success in becoming a thriving hi-tech economy.

Supreme Court backs UK government in foreign spouse case

Britain's Supreme Court has backed government legislation that requires British citizens to meet a wage threshold in order for them to bring a foreign-born spouse to settle in the UK. 

The court rejected an appeal by families who argued the law breaches their right to a family  life.  From London, Catherine Drew reports.

Investigation Launched into Riot in Stockholm Immigrant Suburb

Swedish police have launched an investigation into a riot which erupted in an immigrant suburb of the Swedish capital, Stockholm. 

The riot broke out when Swedish police tried to arrest a suspect on drug charges.

Amnesty report criticizes Russia over human rights

Amnesty International is lashing out at Russia over its treatment non-governmental organizations and Kremlin opponents.

In its annual report on human rights around the world, the group criticizes a 2012 law describing NGOs that receive money from abroad as "foreign agents."

Amnesty also takes aim at Russian anti-extremism legislation which it claims violates international law.

Moscow launches site to counter "fake news" about Russia

Russia's Foreign Ministry has launched an online page on its website dedicated to exposing "fake news" about Russia published by world media. The Ministry's spokewoman argued that was necessary to show the scale of "information campaign" against Russia on global arena and expose fraudulent reports. The step comes after Russia was come under strong criticism over using state-sponsored media outlets to spread "fake news" and propaganda in Europe and the United States.     Melbourne plane crash - investigators begin work

    In Australia, more than 100 people will be interviewed over the fatal plane crash at a Melbourne shopping centre that claimed the lives of five men.

    Iraqi troops close in on western Mosul, set to storm airport

    CIA-backed Aid For Syrian Rebels Frozen

    Free Syrian Army rebels report that the CIA-coordinated military aid
    that has supported their revolt against President Bashar al-Assad has
    been frozen since they came under major Islamist attack last month.

    Uber hires former US attorney general Eric Holder to lead harassment probe

    Verizon Cuts Price of Yahoo Deal


    Verizon and Yahoo have confirmed Verizon will pay 350 million dollars less for Yahoo than originally planned. 

    The two companies agreed to cut the acquisition price after assessing the fallout from two massive security breaches.
