President Trump appeals to base after a bad week in Washington

American President Donald Trump tried to put a bad week behind him on Friday, visiting a Boeing aircraft plant to reinforce his campaign promise to boost domestic jobs.

Amid allegations of improper contacts with Russia and problems building a cabinet, Mr Trump got out of Washington to attend a ceremony in South Carolina to unveil the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner, 

Trying to appeal to the base that elected him, Mr Trump pledged to use his power to force companies to buy American and hire American, with a threat to those that did not.

Tillerson Calms Allies On Syria Ahead of Geneva Talks

Western diplomats say that US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson told them, on the sidelines of the G20 meeting in Germany, that Washington isn't leaning towards Moscow over the conflict in Syria.

Mr. Tillerson told US allies that Washington backs UN efforts to broker a political solution.

Unilever Rejects Kraft Heinz Deal

Household goods maker Unilever has rejected a takeover bid from US firm Kraft Heinz, worth 143 billion dollars.


It would have been one of the biggest corporate deals in history, but Kraft has indicated it will continue to strive for a takeover.

White House denies plans to use national guard to deport migrants

Donald Trump's administration is reportedly considering a proposal to mobilise as many as one hundred thousand national guard troops to round up unauthorised immigrants.

A draft memo obtained by the Associated Press calls for the militirisation of immigration forces in eleven states - some in the far north of America.

Trump's National Security Adviser Pick Turns Down Offer

Pres. Trump vows to continue fight on limiting immigration

U.S. President Donald Trump says he will issue a new executive order limiting immigration to the United States.

He's also promising to continue to fight for his original executive order in court.

The original executive order has been cited by federal judges as violating the freedom of religion and due process clauses of the U.S. Constitution.
