UKIP LEADER APOLOGISES OVER HILLSBOROUGH CLAIMS

The leader of British anti-EU party UKIP has had to apologise over claims on his website about the Hillsborough disaster of 1989 in which 96 football fans died.

One of Paul Nuttall's aides has offered to resign after taking responsibility for claims that he lost close friends in the tragedy.

It comes as he campaigns for a parliamentary seat in the Stoke Central by-election on 23rd February.

European Parliament Set to Approve CETA

The European Parliament is expected today (Wednesday) to approve the EU-Canadian trade deal known as CETA.

Various Trump campaign team members had contact with Russian officials

Several US media outlets are reporting that members of Donald Trump's
campaign team were in regular contact with Russian officials in the
lead-up to the US elections.

This comes after the resignation of President Trump's National
Security Advisor Michael Flynn who was forced to step down after
failing to disclose the full details of his interactions with a
Russian diplomat.

White House concedes Trump knew of Flynn duplicity in January

The White House has confirmed that President Trump kept his National Security Adviser in place for nearly three weeks after he first learned that Michael Flynn might be a national security risk.


President Trump's spokesman insisted that Mr. Flynn had acted legally in his conversations with the Russian Ambassador to the United States, but he said the President's confidence in his top aide had "eroded"

U.S. President Donald Trump is set to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House.

Congressional lawmakers are demanding answers about whether security protocols were violated during U.S. President Donald Trump's dinner with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe at Mar-A-Lago.

Senators urge investigation of Michael Flynn

Lawmakers from both parties are calling for investigations into Michael Flynn, who just resigned as President Trump's National Security Adviser.

The New York Times reports, during the earliest days of the Trump Administration, the FBI questioned Michael Flynn about his phone conversations with Russian officials.

NATO Sec Gen Speaks Ahead of "Mad Dog's" Arrival

Newly-appointed US Defense Secretary James Mattis will meet with fellow NATO defense ministers for the first time Wednesday, representing the administration of US President Donal Trump.

President Trump has recently made controversial comments about NATO being "obsolete" and expressed his disapproval of not all NATO allies paying the full 2 percent of their budgets on defense.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg says he agrees with President Trump's push for NATO allies to pay their fair share.

Stoltenberg says one of the main topics for discussion in this meeting will be how NATO allies can increase their spending for fair burden sharing between the partner countries. 

He says, despite recent criticism, President Trump is committed to the NATO defense mission.

Rolls Royce profits fall amid fines and post-Brexit troubles


British jet engine maker Rolls Royce has reported a record loss of $5.8 billion for 2016 after fines to settle bribery charges and the post-Brexit fall in the pound  took a heavy toll on the company's bottom line.   

However underlying profit for the engineering giant was better than expected as Catherine Drew reports from London.
